AFF - sometimes a bit 'blokey'!

Interesting.

A Project Manager, criminologist.

Very unusual.

After 10+ years working in prisons a change to recharge is a good idea.
I am now the Project Manager for a Corrections program at an NGO.
I did say criminologist by profession not current occupation:)

"Which dress should I wear - the gold one or the blue one?"
  • "Does this dress make my bottom look big?"

Hey Flashware, should I wear the red or the blue dress?

AND to all woman out there, if you have to ask if your bottom looks big then it probably does.

Easy, combine a "Your bottom looks fine with that Dress ...." with a complimentary tactile answer. :D

;):D

And what's wrong with having a big bottom anyway? - it will probably just be matching the big belly of a lot of men out there...................

We don't ask "does my belly look big in this" though:!:

Yes, well that comment could set up other discussion topics such as:

Why don't men recognise when they are overweight when clearly their bellies are hanging way too far over their belts ?

and

Why do women think they are overweight when they are just normal curvy, delicious women?
:)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I'm not going to touch that one with a 10 foot pole!

No chance you will get HWMBO when a simple DH will suffice, one wonders how much pun is in the darling part at times though! I suspect if FF is too blokey then one should wander over to essential baby to see the opposite!

Did anyone else have to think this post over several times wondering why the moderators hadn't removed it?

Not necessarily. I would think a woman who asks that kind of question can come in all body sizes. A very slim woman might ask the same thing. To me the kind of woman who would ask it is one who has low self esteem and needs reassurance.

AFF - sometimes a bit 'blokey'? Well, maybe, but I just consider it the nature of the demographic. It's Frequent Flyer group and, as has been pointed out somewhere on this thread already, it just a fact that those who fly MOST frequently for business in greater numbers do tend to be "blokes".

I do occasionally roll my eyes at the sense of entitlement / "they should treat me better because I'm very important/ loyal" attitude... but that tends to come from those who log in for the first time, have a vitriolic rant/tantrum for a few posts, and are never heard from again (and are not always male).

But TOO blokey? Not for me. I am a mere NB life-long travel junkie who'd love to fly a lot more but has to be satisifed with living vicariously through others' travel adventures and loves the tales and trip reports I find here. (And maybe I'm not the best to judge. I'm not a chicken salad / chardy / mineral water / 'Essential Baby' (though I have sister who, I think, spends hours there debating other people's baby names) / Vogue / girly gal; give me a steak and Shiraz, and some travel brochures, and I'm happy). And if it WAS too "blokey", I'm free to take my hours of internet surfing elsewhere!

I actually find those sort of posts rather amusing. :D

I'm female. AFF blokey? Maybe a little, never thought about it much.
As long as I get good tips and info, I don't really care ;)

I'll second the above comment. I would also agree with the comment that the membership of this forum is simply a reflection of the demographics of the "road warrior" community.

As a female who runs an IT Distribution business I'm very used to working in a "blokey" environment. To be honest I'm so used to it and that I don't even realise when I'm the only female at a meeting or event as its just the usual state of play for me. I enjoy men's company and perhaps I'm just one of the boys anyway? :)

Cheers

^^ I find it funny that two men (presumably..?) have made reference to "Essential Baby" as though they have been there and are familiar with it themselves..

And I am a female and this is the first I have heard of it. Hmmmmn! :p

LOL i'm going to check it out now :D

Let's examine, for instance, the average SYD-MEL peak-hour flight on a weekday morning. What is the average male:female ratio of the passengers on that typical flight? I will be so bold as to suggest that there will be considerably more men than women. I don't seek to be drawn into a debate about women in the workforce and the glaring inequalities they are confronted with, it just seems to me that the majority of "road warriors" are male.

It appears that there are a number of gay members of this site, some of them more visible than others (though examining the list of a members' friends is can be quite telling!), dispelling the stereotype of gay men living in a world that is composed entirely of Krug Rosé, Prada shoes, MDMA and €45 manicures (although I do quite like Krug Rosé, and I do believe in good grooming!).

Anyhoo, the "blokey" thing is OK by me. It doesn't seem to deter the Ladies or the Poofs*, so what's not to like? :D

(*I use this "derogatory" term because I am entirely comfortable with my homosexuality, and I think that it's a charming Australianism)

NYC Guy, Im with you. As a fellow Poof, I also quite like the blokey thing. I follow ARL and NRL but I also enjoy a regular $45 manicure. I work in a very male dominated industry and it gives me a lot of pleasure to wind up my straight colleagues. Its called "diversity" and it gives life a texture and colour that it wouldn't normally have. I also like breaking the stereotype too. "you like Rugby?" " you drink beer"? "you want to drive a V8"? Absobloodylutley!
