I should throw my thanks into the mix.

Big thank you to the organisers for this Do. It's a shame that the Saturday night dinner venue was not conversation- or speech-friendly, and as a result we never got to fully acknowledge as a group the contributions of the organisers, or the industry guests who gave up their time to join us.

So here's to you, oz_mark and munitalP, plus many others who have both contributed ideas and generally helped shape the event. And thank you to everyone who came and made it a great weekend; I was very glad to have met new AFF members (or AFF Dos) - I hope you all had a great time too.

A trip report will be coming this way soon - when I get time to write it!

Now I've been told that I have been somewhat unanimously selected as part of the organisation team for AFF Gather #4 in BNE. Are you insane??!!:shock: But seriously, I can do the organisational (read: spreadsheeting) part of the Do.... selecting good venues on the other hand..... *shudder*

AFF INTL Gather sounds really interesting....but HKG? Come on! Do you think I'm made of money?

Touche, touche... Surprisingly I've never really enjoyed the Melbourne equivalents apart from a few misspent Sunday nites at Love Machine.

That's because the Melbourne equivalents are awful? Would much rather drink at one of the great little bars around the CBD ... Mme. Brussels, Robot Sushi, 1806 of course - or drinking at home, before I went to any of the bars along Commercial road.

Stop it now. I'm getting thirsty. And I only have 2L of Tanq 10 at home :p

OK, I missed the whole thing :( Looks like all of you were having a great time :)

I actually work at EY building Mon-Fri, next to Din Tai Fung. Could not believe I missed the whole DO :(

Are there any fotos of the DO for sharing?

Why not - Honkers = one of the best cities in the world for all to do with eating and drinking (and shopping)! Wouldn't mind Bali either - been wanting to go back to Seminyak for ages. The other half reckons Seoul would be the way to go as everything is so cheap there but might be a touch inconvenient to get to for most people. Perth or Tasmania would be the most cost effective for the Intl edition then hey? ;)

PS - any ideas for better names than 'Gathering'?

PPS - we really need to get the +1s to rego their handles on here as most of them have been to most every AFF event not to mention the monthly drinks. :p

Well Tasmania makes sense. At least it is overseas ;)

Red Bull Air Race has been moved to April, 2010. Normally it's held in November.

I hear ya... Candy bar on Sunday nites was nice before it died though (incidentally it was my supposedly straight hairdresser who recommended the place :D). Then everyone went to the place opposite or Love Machine - must admit I did like Love Machine until... oh never mind.

I honestly wouldn't mind moving to Sydney as it's a pretty fun place - we talked about it after the weekend. But I'd miss Melbourne's fab coffee, and small funky bars with atmosphere and life!

International Edition... This sounds interesting.

Sadly I don't think PER or HBA really count as International, but they are certinaly cheaper to get to than HKG.

I lived in Sydney for 4 years. I spent 3 years 364 days trying to move back to Melbourne ;)

Funnily enough that was mentioned in the Business Lounge yesterday afternoon

The other half was actually more enthusiastic about coming to AFF events after realising that they're effectively piss ups. :p

Well, there is that side too. That said, I couldn't be with someone who a) didn't share my joy of travel, and b) didn't enjoy masqueraded 'pissups' :)

how about "strategic planning and review committee " meeting

everyone knows they're just a pissup anyway
