I think my friend mentioned CX to TYO at ~2200 USD for J. Aria suite flights available if flying from SYD.

I did a few test bookings for flights to HND via HKG (a similar deal but for North Asia destinations), discount applied just fine but the fare classes were NOT eligible for Qantas points! Learnt this the hard way when the claims for flights in April were rejected

Not that uncommon for low priced CX fares to many frequent flyer programmes
CX do not pay $$, to buy the ff miles/avios/points from QF ffp, AA ffp, BA ffp etc on low fare buckets to reward (~bribe) pax for flying with them
