You can't upgrade hotel rooms with Velocity points.

Hang on to your Velocity points. Don't be so anxious to use them.

If you want to stay in Accor then accumulate the points in Accor and try and get status with them. Look out for the relatively simple promotions they have every now and then.

Thanks JohnK. I think am a bit confused with all the info. .. One of these days I will get it. .... Hehehehe

It shouldn't be that difficult.

I only started staying at Accor properties regularly this year.

As I mentioned in earlier post I recently received promotion from Accor for stays until 31 December 2015.

- Book a 2 night stay and receive 1,000 bonus points
- Book 2 x 2 night stays and receive 5,000 bonus points
- Book 3 x 2 night stays and receive 10,000 bonus points

I was already planning to be in Pattaya in November and this was a no-brainer to book 7 nights in 3 hotels. Wife not happy we have to move twice but she understands my passion for frequent flyer points and hotel points and she gets to benefit from some of them sometimes anyway.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

It's worth noting that 200 Accor points can become 200 Velocity points which can become 148 Krisflyer miles, rather than 200 accor points becoming 100 KF miles. If you take the 3.2c per Accor point value, a KF mile would need to be worth 4.32c to break even compared to booking a hotel room - but if you need a handful more for a specific award it may be worth it.

If you take the 3.2c per Accor point value,

Good info, thanks. For me though, I see Accor being somewhat of a frustrating and time consuming process. By that I mean, for my price checks, I note without a sale, Accor rates are a fair chunk higher than the competitors. With the 40% as mentioned above, the rates seem good, but always being on the lookout for sales rather than being ripped off can be very time consuming. If compared against the higher rate, than the 3.2c is possibly a bit of smoke and mirrors as I'd prefer to compare against not just the rate saved, but against the going "fair" rate for the area and what one does or does not get included with the rate. If one can easily get the market rate or lower through Accor sales, than I agree, 3.2c is magnificent.

One thing to consider (which I didn't realise until recently) is that Accor points cannot be used against sale room rates. So one will need to spend more to save a little. A bit like 10% off best Flexible rate which could be the same as the Advance purchase rate.

True but realistically you won't be able to always book hotel rooms at deep discount rates so you should be able to "cash" them in eventually. Of course if you can't there's always the option to transfer them to Velocity :)

It's just an observation, but wouldn't it be more useful if you could transfer Velocity points to Le Club Accor? I mean if Accor values it's points at 1 Velocity point, then why wouldn't the reverse be true. It's high time that airlines allowed reasonable conversion of their points to hotel points. Probably just wishful thinking.

This would be useful. Was just looking for options to boost my Accor points and it seems it's a one way process only, from Accor to others.
