Interesting, nothing on Velocity about it. I guess 30th Sept is a few months away.

Another teaser with very little details. Holding breath.

Qantas offering 50% bonus points on auto-transfer from Le Club to QFF if signed up prior to 30/9 on stays to 30/11. I guess in response to this new relationship between Accor and Velocity.

Very timely email! I'll pick up 120K at the end of October.

Hi all,
Hope that someone can give me advice on how to book rooms/stays at Accor hotels in various cities with Velocity points? Or is there abetter way to utilise velocity points?
We will be visiting Hong Kong, Beijing, Frankfurt, NYC, Las Vegas and LA in few months. If we join Accor rewards do we get any points for the say if rooms are paid by velocity points?
I am just little bit confused with all the available programs and transfers, so, greatly appreciate so guidance here. Thanks

It would be poor use of Velocity points to book hotel rooms. In theory you should not be able to earn Accor points for reward bookings using Velocity points.

If you don't travel a lot then don't bother chasing points. It can get quite expensive.

Unless of course you can find cheap hotels that earn good bonus points. I have paid ~AUD550 for 7 nights in 3 different Accor hotels in Pattaya in November which will get me over the line for Accor Platinum and earn 10,000+ Accor points which have a value >AUD300.

OK OK - I received an email from Velocity today to announce the partnership with Accor - the email also included a link to a promo offering members a chance to win 1 of 10 prizes of 50,000 Le Club AccorHotels for stays at AccorHotels worldwide before 31 December 2015. See screenshot below.

SO - I entered my details and next thing I know - all my Accor points are gone!!! I really hope it's yet another Accorhotels.com glitch and the folks at Accor didn't "forcefully" move all my Accor points to Velocity !!! Anyone else having the same problem??

Do you have any suggestions? Should I book rooms and then use points for upgrade?

Does anyone know if Le Club are doing a status match with Velocity ? I have not used Accor for some time and have dropped from Plat to nothing.

Trying to work out which is more beneficial. Whether to keep my points with Accor or transfer them to Velocity.
In my case, I would more likely use the points towards travel instead of staying at Accor hotels. Gut feeling says to convert to Velocity.
Would anyone disagree with this?

For Accor points it's quite simple - 2,000 Accor points = 40 Euros = approx 64 AUD - so an Accor point is worth approx 3.2c

For Velocity (and other FF programs) it's really subjective as it depends on where you fly, which class and flexibility. Perhaps ask yourself... would you pay 3.2c per Velocity point? If the answer is yes then go ahead and convert them, if the answer is no then you'll be better off keeping them with Accor provided of course you plan to stay in Accor hotels sometime in the future so they can be used to offset future accommodation costs.

Personally, I'd always pay 1c per Velocity points - perhaps I could stretch it to 2c per points - but 3.2c per point is way too expensive in my opinion so I'd rather keep them with Accor...

Thanks JohnK

You can't upgrade hotel rooms with Velocity points.

Hang on to your Velocity points. Don't be so anxious to use them.

If you want to stay in Accor then accumulate the points in Accor and try and get status with them. Look out for the relatively simple promotions they have every now and then.
