Hope I can help a few people out now...

Accor have a "multi-million dollar hotel sale now on" with lots of rooms going for $50 per night.

I just booked the Novotel Canberra for $50 per night plus an additional $20 for breakfast for 2!

There are hotels in Australia, NZ and Fiji available on selected dates until 31 December 2006.

The website is extremely slow due to the high demand but I was patient!

Only just got on to the website (I was trying last night as well) and I can't see any $50/night rooms (in fact there's no rooms in Perth at all, ever). Is there a trick to it?

Accor are building a new website at the moment and they acknowledge that there are problems with it. I found the $50 rooms last night trying to book a couple of nights at the SYD Airport Mercure, but there must be a blackout period for them. I booked a standard queen room for $118 on 2nd and 22nd Dec. By the way, I reckon that Accor Advantage + membership is worthwhile ~$240 pa and you can get this back using your free night a a property like Sofitel SYD or MEL or Gold Coast or BNE. Half price dining and breakfast and half price rooms as well as some good deals for members.

I have just had a look at the website and Perth in particular. The cheapest rooms in Perth appear to be $65 at the Hotel Formule 1 Perth Airport with plenty of availability. All the other Accor hotels are available as well but can cost as much as $220 a night with no mention of the regular rack rate for that room, making it difficult to see how much of a discount you are actually getting:rolleyes: .

Anyway, keep trying with the site as it was down when I first accessed it but when I hit refresh a minute later it came on line.

Based on the sign out the front of the Hotel Formule 1, $65 is a fairly standard offering from the hotel.

Formule 1 is definitely Accor's budget brand, but at the other end, Sofitel is pretty good accom.

I actually booked rooms at Canberra Novotel for $50 for 2 different nights in December and it took ages both times - I kept getting error messages and my sessions logged out on numerous occasions but I persevered and eventually won! Now there are none left!
Rooms were also showing last night at the Menzies, Sydney for $50 on various dates.

Can anyone confirm their success in booking nights (with when & what hotel?).
This could be helpful.
I only saw 'all seasons' hotels earlier and am trying again tonight.

Cheers

I have usually had no trouble booking accom. through the Accor website. I stayed in the Menzies last Saturday for $160 and as I said earlier I have two bookings in December at the Sydney Airport Mercure for $118 each. If you are having trouble with the website ( and it is being rebuilt) call Accor on 1300 36 36 37 - although you may need to join if you aren't a mamber. `240 pa, but you easily get that back with a free night, half price stays and half price dining.

I think the bounty for new signings is a free bottle of wine. If you are in the QP long enough you can get that anyway.

Sounds to me like a worthwhile bounty

I got the email as well. And since it tells you which hotels and helps out on dates, it is a good thing. Just have to find a hotel somewhere I want to be on the dates given :)

Boy, talk about luck. I picked up Friday and Saturday night in Melbourne for $50. Added to the return flight cost of $168 and someone selling a grannie ticket for cost on E-bay means that I can see the Swans win their second flag for a bloody good price.

I was lucky enough to get the Hotel Ibis World Square in Sydney for the 23rd and 24th December, and the Novotel Darling Harbour for the 25th December - each for $50 a night. I booked online on Tuesday night with no trouble at all.

I managed to book a $50 night at Mercure Perth on the night of our work Christmas party in December. The $50 rate is still showing up if you search for all hotels in Perth, but when other people try to book it the rate is changing to $150! Dodgy!

As of 4pm today, the $50 is finished. The advertisement has been removed from the main accor webpage.

Accor $50 per night summer promotion is back on, for sale until 5 November.

Same conditions as previous offer.
