Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

I would go a bit further in your ABC comments, I would suggest it attracts the people who do the humanities subjects at uni rather than the simple left leaning comment.

As for commentators in the Telegraph in Sydney...........they certainly care not for the humanities.
Nor for journalism for that matter.

unless there are facts involved............opinions?..........zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Might be a good idea to unsubscribe from this thread then, there's clearly nothing in it for you. A little like a thread where, for example, people admire their own looks while discussing the merits of Kris lounges couldn't be more boring to me :)

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

Though a Radio National reporter after the ALP had joined with the Greens in the Senate to knock down Temporary Protection Visas asking Tony Abbott that did that mean that as there were no TPVs that was therefore another broken promise was certainly evidence of bias.Along with stupidity.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

How is it biased ?

Note that "bias" and "different" are not synonyms.

No but prejudice & predispose are.

There are few on this thread that are not biased and that includes both of us.

Hang on! Tony Abbott pulled exactly that trick for the last three years!

If memory serves correct the ALP had just about everything they ever wanted pass the senate! Including the destruction of work choices:!:

No, the ALP had to negotiate with the Senate/ Cross benches to pass it's legislation (Sell out! Government held to ransom! Broken promises!) or had the senate block or amend it (Shambles! Failure to govern!)... It's how the system works. You make statements of your intent before the election but you have to actually get it through the parliament. If you promise things you can't actually get through or have to accept compromises that happens and you can expect to be called on it.

No, <snip> If you promise things you can't actually get through or have to accept compromises that happens and you can expect to be called on it.

Is that the same as the ALP reneging on their own election promise for higher education cuts to fund Gonski ?

An ABC reporter saying a lost vote in the senate is a broken promise is farcical!

It's all academic given the Gov has been forced to implement an even tougher policy to circumvent the senate. All the ALP/Greens have achieved is force more misery on the very people they are trying to assist:confused: It took Leigh Sales awhile to realise this last night.....but she finally caught up & the penny dropped.

You could actually say the Gov has over delivered on their TPV promise. The new policy is harsher than any TPV.

Your memory has totally failed because it hasn't served you correct (sic).

Every Senate and House vote required extensive consultation and negotiation, and received total denigration from an opposition who never recognised them as the legitimate government.

Even some Liberals were glad to see the back of WorkChoices because they knew just how much it hurt their government.

 Like I said they got just about everything they ever wanted thru the senate. At least the Libs/Nats understood they were backing a loser with WorkChoices......time will tell if Billy can figure the same thing out with the few hot ideas they've had that are clearly duds with the electorate.

But he was the Opposition Leader.Of course you might mean that the ABC is now the official Opposition.

Only if you acknowledge that Rupert Murdoch is the de facto Prime Minister.

Mark Scott is safe as houses. 1. He has been great for the ABC. 2. He's an ex liberal staffer. 3. The Indonesia story was a genuine scoop that any paper in the country would have run with.

But the incident I referred to was the ABC making up the questions.I cant remember that happening during the last 6 years.

Rather than Bolt getting them pre-approved prior to the audience he is granted with Mr Abbott.

Questions about "government backflips" when they couldn't get legislation through parliament have been journalism 101. What goes around...
