Can't see that being something offered by OneWorld, but maybe something specific to AA. Each airline has similar but different rules for their "OneWorld Award", so it would be a lot of work to code all the specific rules for each FF program's version of the OneWorld Awards.

Making my way through the mag, I think this is the part that the FT folk refer to:

"Also, OneWorld plans to be the first alliance to off online frequent-flier mileage redemptions between member airlines"

Wouldnt you just have a front end that basically logs you into the back ends for each of the members and the members would just have to make it possible to book partner flights online (which some don't).

I can see it happening quite readily; Qantas employ Amadeus with their buggy on line award booking engine (it automatically books as a [QFF] oneworld award when appropriate).

Yesterday I booked some AA flights using "AA.com.au" (flights were cheaper on it than AA.com) and it definitely uses Amadeus - even the seat selection window is v. similar to C/M/T's.

The oneworld RTW engine also uses similar Amadeus technology to the AA.com AU site. However, I wonder if people are reading too much into the statement in American Way. That statement would also apply if only one or two oneworld carriers were to allow its FFP members to book interline awards.
