I decided to not take the risk of any other buying opportunity and just went with buying 1000 miles for around AUD70. Not the best deal, but certainly the easiest.

Buying miles will extend the expiry date by another 18 months.

You're not alone. I did exactly the same thing with two of my family accounts recently due to leaving it too late to rely on any other option.

same here, I bought 1000 miles each for the family accounts because I knew the points would be there within 48 hours rather than number crunching the cost/benefits of some subscription and unknown time period for the points to appear on their account.

I'm having a good hit rate with the store at present. Made a dozen or so purchases since beginning of the month, and all but purchases from last week have credited. I also get the bonus 2k for spending over $500 during a promo period.

The current WSJ is $12 for 90 days, so it's a little more expensive (for 1700 miles). Bought that too, just have to remember to cancel the auto renew when the points credit.

How long on average (or a range) did it take for the miles to credit?
WSJ is now $12 for 12 weeks (1700 miles) but on the submit page, it doesn't have anything about putting in your AA number...

How do you cancel the auto renew on one of these magazine subscriptions? Feeling a little silly not being able to work it out.

I had to Skype to cancel the Wall St Journal after the 90 days, or whatever it was and get a receipt number for the call.

Re: AAdvantage EShopping.

I was on the phone cancelling my auto-renewal for the WSJ offer and thought i'd look in the portal to see if there were any other good offers. Here's another great one.

Do you have a link for this?

When I search the shop I get this. Clicking the link takes me to this, $12 for 12 weeks but there appears to be no way to link the purchase to my AAdvantage account.

Re: AAdvantage EShopping.

The special is for the New York Times, so you need to search for that instead of WSJ :) The offer is available on mine.

I note though that the terms say the miles will be refunded if the subscription is cancelled before 90 days. Since the $5 only covers 12 weeks (84 days), with $3.75 to be charged each week after that (4 weeks at a time, so $15). Does this mean that the 1,500 miles would end up costing at minimum $20?

Or is there a way to stop the auto-renewing?

Oooh good point. I didn't read the fine print.

I have actually had points 'refunded' in the past too (a failed transaction posted, then a few weeks later were pulled from my account).

Wait and see I guess. If it's like the WSJ one, you can call them and request it not renew after the trial. $5 for a cough shoot isn't so bad, so ill wait and see.

Re: AAdvantage EShopping.

My 1500 miles credited. I wonder if I should now cancel and see if they stick?
