serfty, whats the gist of those 400 posts ? :) hehehe

Well you know it had to happen you would have thought, but now with the mergers and the shutdowns i would have thought they may end up falling a little short of capacity and now rights to purchase anything.
US aviation had not had a good 10 years.

Some may be happy to see the MD-80's go i think....

Those change fees are high !!!
Wow, makes the QF fees look almost reasonable.
Limitations on bags is ... well interesting and very USA

Thanks for the summary, i did not want to read all those pages.

Obviously AA and UA are running out of cash. It may well be a race to see who can outlast the other.

One wonders if there will be a serious push to re-regulate at least part of the market which could play into the presidential race.

???

If so, one may need to consider the risk of transferring points to AA at present.

I had been considering taking advantage of the "mistake" rate form Amex to SPG (which is thus time limited)......but I think the more prudent thing may be to keep the points at Amex for SQ redemption instead.

I am pretty sure AA wont go under ! but it may well suffer.
I think all the smaller airlines are in big big trouble though,... then again if flying new planes they have a per seat $$ advantage that will allow them to price below AA etc and still make money.
