Aa A WP for 3+ years, I have never tried the SYD QF F lounge "All day menu"

Yes I did.
I even showed them my QF WP card.

They say as it is a CX boarding pass, you are under OWE rules and children are counted as guests. QF children policy does not apply.
I am sure that is wrong - sounds like they got confused...... I almost can't blame them, as it is really hard to keep track of all the rules, however it is their job. I had a newbie in the Qantas F lounge once, who wouldn't let me in until I produced my platinum card, in spite of having an F boarding pass and the number was printed on it :)

To throw a curve ball in, there are situations where QF rules are less generous.
Ie guesting - if QF WP, guest needs to be travelling on same flight.

Wouldn't QF rules apply if you're flying QF? I can see the logic of OWE rules applying due to the fact that you're trying to access the lounge because you're flying with a OW carrier and not QF.

Re lounge access. My understanding (and most happy to be corrected) is that QF access rules apply when you're flying QF. As this person was on CX then OWE rules apply.

It's been discussed (many times) before.

Qantas have stated that for their lounges, where two rules might apply, the most generous of the two rules will apply.

don't believe so, but as I said it is all so complicated (and changes), so I would never argue the point.

I can't agree. I've had to argue the point dozens of times. You have to do it politely - but when you know you are likely to be correct, why wouldn't you?
the older you get the more you just want a peaceful life. Also when it comes to lounge rules, I am never 100% sure I know what I am talking about.

Fine - are you 80+ ?

I don't mean to be rude but when you say "the older you get" I wonder...

I must say, I disagree again.

And by the above, I meant that I think I'm getting more assertive as I get older.

I won't take situations in quite the same way I that did eg 20 years ago...

But if I'm wrong - I'm wrong.

totally the opposite - I was highly aggressive as a young girl/woman. You had to be as a female in the 70s in IT. I can remember trying to get into a Communications software position in 1978 and attacking the interviewer over some of the questions, which I felt were aimed at me as a female. I got the position and was later told I had "broken" into the area. The first time they had hired a female....

However the older I get the less aggressive I get - too few years left to fight about unimportant things. However we are all different and I am not suggesting you should modify your outlook :). (And no not 80+ - 65 which seems plenty old enough :))

I'm not talking about aggression! Assertiveness is not aggression.

I would encourage everyone to be assertive - but not aggressive. Assertiveness is confidence without being aggressive.

It's only because the lounge staff are (very often!) wrong. :)

you remind me of Mr FM - he can never resist an argument. I usually end it by telling him I refuse to argue any more....:)

Indeed!

I remember once in EWR (Newark, New York) trying to enter a lounge with my Business Class boarding pass. All the on-line published rules (alliance and airline) said it was allowed. They still say that. But the lounge staff said "no". They could see the published rules too and acknowledged them but said their directives (unpublished) were different.

So no more argument from me after that.

I was about to leave when other pax entering the lounge heard the staff's augments and decided to guest me in because they thought the staff were wrong.

Even when I was leaving (I only wanted a shower) the staff were sympathetic and thought their directives were wrong.

I can repeat the above experience x about 50 over the past 30 years...

Mostly it's worked in my favour. But certainly not always.

You're not missing much. Salt and pepper squid or burger which you could easily get somewhere else if you really wanted.

Showers (clean showers) can be harder to come by - in many of the world's airports.

I think you picked the two most average dishes on the all day menu! But I would agree it's not worth over-engineering a flight schedule just to sample the menu after 11am
