A380 in Y - best seats (80A/80K/71D/50C etc.)

I'm developing a slight preference for 71D over 80A (not sure this applies to 80K). A couple of times I've had a single traveller in 80B insist on climbing out over me in 80A, which means I have to lower my screen into the stowed position, resetting it. My formula is now to pick 80A/K for a day flight when there's the opportunity to look out the window, but 71D for a night flight when sound sleep and easier aisle access are more important. 80A was great a couple of weeks ago when the captain banked the plane to give everyone a stunning view of Uluru. Unfortunately my camera was a small trek away in the overhead locker.
You are way too nice. I would love to know the reason behind someone wanting to climb over me in 80AK instead of out the aisle. I may (and I stress "may") allow it once but I am not going to stow screen away and wait for them to get back everytime.

Why the should the person in 80CH get any special privileges over any other aisle seat on the aircraft? Go and annoy the person in the aisle....

NBW is indeed waiting (at gate 9) to take me to SIN today (QF9). Bossreggie would not be pleased! I'm not totally sure I am either...

She's been thoroughly inspected, and has less cycles than some of her peers.

Either way, looks like I'll miss her by a day. (QF 10 on the 28th from SIN).

The flight was fine. And 80A is an excellent seat. I might save 25,000 (points needed to upgrade to Premium Economy) and stay in 80A on my upcoming SIN-MEL QF10.

For such a short flight, that's what I'd do.

Knowing that I can access such Y seats have actually put me off in trying out Y+. Given that I wouldn't pay the points for the upgrade, I definitely wouldn't pay the cash for it either.

And a bit of WTF here... I've chosen 69D as promised, and for a flight with O9, I now find 69E and 69F both occupied on the seatmap??? And that's with 50A available, 50B/C blocked. A little bit tempted to change to 50A, especially having a 105min transfer to a domestic flight (and I actually love babies), but will probably stay put just to test out 69D on a redeye.

Hi,

Im 6 feet 4 inches tall. Im currently booked into Emergency seat 66A, but 50C is available, am i better off at that seat?

Does the emergency exit door have that big bulge like other emergency exit seats?

Im on longhaul SIN to LHR.

Thanks!

Welcome to AFF :D

Stay where you are! It's one of the best economy seats on the aircraft (tied with 66K IMHO).

Yes, 66A is a great seat! No "Bulge" (Life raft cowling) at all.

Since you are ~193cm it'd be tough in 50C.

Here's some images of 66A - it's the "window" seat - you can see there's no liferaft cowling (click each image for an enlargement):

Awesome thanks for your help!!

Ahh plays :) I was gonna say would have wasted 160 bucks (if from syd-lax) :)

Concise seat test: 69D
Guilt free recline seems to work, as I wasn't bumped into at all during the flight (or I was just totally knocked out). Flight was full, but it's quite nice to be able to not worry about un-reclining the seat during meal time. Although I did get a few bumps when 70E or 71D (not sure who) was having a play on the screen - which would happen on virtually all seats anyway.

Wanted to chicken out of my allocated 80K seat and move back to 50C for tomorrow, and 50C is no longer available. Oh well.

Thanks for the feedback Awesom Andy. That sounds like the type of seat I like....bump free.

Anyone know the sequelae of being asked to move from 50c if baby need arise?
