71D questions: (Apologies if already answered above)
- Can I put my bag under 69D?
- Is the hatch used much? Can I put my bag on the floor and use it as a footrest, or will that impede the hatch?

I did put a small bag under 69D without any comments from the crew.
The hatch is an emergency only exit in case the crew rest catches fire or something similar...so no it's not used frequently, but I don't know if the crew would ask you not to put your bag on the hatch during cruise.

At T-80 and the blocked selections open up, do they still charge $180 for the available exit rows/extra legroom seats?

The answer is YES @ T-80.

It's free only @ T-24.

Flight Seat Selection | Qantas

Thanks Legroom.

Next Q:

I went to checkin for my flight tomorrow morning and selected my preferred seat (43K) in the exit row. During the confirmation process it 'errored out' - but still checked me in. I rang QF and the operator said they couldnt change it now that I'd checked in, i'd have to do it at the airport. Is this correct or a case of HUACA?

More frustrating I now have to wait and hope the seat is still available tomorrow when I arrive.

Thoughts please??

A380 AU to LAX - return.

Need a Y seat - must be Aisle.
Want to avoid someone behind.
Lower deck only please

69D is available
77 (row) is available (galley behind I think).

Row 65-ish in the front Y cabin is available but toilets seem to be right behind - so not so idea backing on the toilets.

For now I have selected 77D mid-ship aisle as I figure there will be some space behind the seat for blanket etc.

I've boxed seats in red available.

I'd say one advantage of 69D is that if you are a "recliner" you won't disturb the PAX behind you.

I sat in row 77 and curtain opening constantly at night can be a bit annoying.

Ok thanks.

In that case ... SYD-LAX am thinking 77. Probably ok for a mostly daytime flight.

Originally upper deck was showing full ... but now upper deck LAX-SYD is all empty. So I'll select 33B
Upper deck Y Still 100% full SYD-LAX.

I am scratching my head though on 69D.

You definitely get guilt-free recline for the entire trip, so to speak. You wouldn't have to worry about putting your seat up during meal services. In my experience, you generally won't get bumped much either, but then, I can easily sleep through an apocalyse...

Hi new member here. I'm flying SYD - LHR in Sept, at the moment most of the seats seem to be available. Have just managed to get 36K upstairs, but am wondering if 69D would be an equivalent or better option?

The only advantage of 69D is that you won't bother anyone if you recline your seat during the whole flight. 36K has a side storage bin which can be useful. If you don't mind a window seat I would pick 36K because the upper deck Y cabin is a more relaxing place than the main Y section on the lower deck.

Love that side storage ! you can rest easy with your luggage right beside you.

I Believe it was TomVexille in the general train discussion #94 who was talking about criminal gangs stealing stuff from overhead lockers during long haul flights so the side store is awesome. Its a relic of the days that part of the cabin was Premium Economy ....
