A380 first class Dining

Yeah the first time I thought it was odd and the second time when I questioned it was when I was offered a hot meal from business class.
The point about this recent flight was that they contacted me during the day because the flight was late, so I ate at a restaurant in Hong Kong before going to the airport.
So I didn't eat an evening meal, and when breakfast come around I looked overthe menu and it was continental only, nothing hot apart from toast and a warmed up croissant. I would be pi$$ed if I paid for a first class ticket.

This wouldn't have been last Saturday ie the 21st would it? I was on that flight and it was delayed. I was in J and I noticed at least 2 people being upgraded to F (at least I'm assuming that was what was happening as the CSM came and got them from 11A and K respectively and they took their bags and never came back). There was a lot of juggling of seats going on after boarding. I had noticed on EF prior to the flight that Y and PE were heavily loaded but J was not so I'm wondering if there was some overbooking down the back and so people got bumped through the classes. I thought it was strange that it would happen after boarding though and not before?

Cheers

Timmi

No I flew back on Sunday 15th April and got notified of the delay by phone before i left for the airport that afternoon.
I was told because of a change of aircraft on the incoming flight.

Was contacted by the First Lounge this morning to check with me my needs and wants tomorrow, with a treatment booking if I desired.

I asked about the degustation menu but they needed to check and call back.

When they called back she told me they load those at about 50% of the First cabin load - a note was to be made available to the crew of my desire for this.

How did you go with Degustation meal?

First host called me today and confirmed bookings for massage & reserved a table for lunch......she mentioned the same to me regarding the meal & promised that a note would be passed to the crew.

Interesting, I've never had the degustation mentioned in the "day before phone call". I've simply just been offered it on board.

Each time has been along the lines of "Mr Dfcatch will you be joining us for the tasting menu and matching wines today?"

My experience, too, on a couple of occasions on the SIN run. Have been reading of this new development with interest, particularly given a departure in a few days.

For claification, I asked about it.......it was not an item that the host brought up as a question.

I have had the pleasure of flying in the A380 first class cabin many times but I had to admit even I was a bit gobsmacked on my recent return to Sydney from Hong Kong overnight. I was informed at breakfast time that First Class only offers a continental breakfast and if I wanted a hot meal they would see what they had left over from Business class. Thank god I was using points to upgrade and didn't pay full tilt for it.

Interesting and decidedly odd.

I'm quite sure when I flew QF10 SIN-MEL last month in F, there were no hot breakfast offerings. Thought it odd, but just went with the flow.

Then last week flew QF94 LAX-MEL in J and had a large, hearty and very tasty full hot breakfast.

I had assumed the difference was due to the different routes, but now not so sure.

The FA's have it as well?? Not a bad perk! :)

I think asking for a warm breakfast is not asking for everything...

Gee, would there be many/any AFF member that would even think about paying full freight for an F ticket?

Considering the amounts paid by those traveling in that class - I would have thought it should be an option.

So UTR, I don't agree one bit with the comments made. Yes do your research but it is First Class for pete's sake.

Regardless of surveys I do find it odd that the choice of a hot breakfast was not offered to me as an F pax on a medium haul flight.

That's got the taste buds up & running - currently in the SYD Flounge & i'll be tucking into that very shortly on the way to SIN....how appropriate.

This visit to the Flounge has been very subdued, in anticipation.....hope I'm not holding back in vain.
