Hi all,

I'm a relatively new FF member and have recently achieved silver FF status. Now I'm gunning for gold.

I have a very simple question, so simple in fact it's likely to cause some to think I'm a little daft.

As I understand it if you book a flight using points (paying additional taxes), you won't earn any QFF points for those flights.

Is that the same for status credits or does it only apply to points?

This question is a little more complex than you would imagine

in general, no - a classic reward booking will not attain points or Status Credits(SC) unless there's a promotion running for this (they have them every so often - usually for Economy Class redemptions only - but I digress)

However, if one uses either points+pay or a full points booking as in "Use points" when booking - usually a very large number of points - to, in effect, purchase a revenue seat using points, then you would get the points and SC's for this.

How can you tell the difference?

On the QF website home page, you have 2 options to search:

* Use money, points or both
* Use points only (Classic Flight Rewards)

the first option will get you points and SC's for a booking, the 2nd will not.

My understanding is no QFF points and no Status Credits if booked using points.

Following from RichardMEL this screen shot shows classic rewards as a figure on a seat - these classic rewards do not earn points or status credits.

Now with the show in points box checked in the top right hand corner it shows the same flights in points plus pay - the flights shown in points do earn both points and status credits - the classic reward seats still don't
