Are you wanting to change to EY in and out of the Middle East? You can't do an Aust to Europe via AUH without making it into 2 awards - which I still think is great value particularly F.

QR is an exception recently to this because of being in OW but EY has no exception.

Current flight back to OZ is on QR leaves at 2am in morning to PER, next day on QF to BNE, was hoping could go AUH direct to BNE instead. But doubt AA would allow it to be changed in a USDM booking.

I suspect you might be right. Changing between AA-US/oneworld/partners tends to attract a ticket reissue, and hence a new award.

Yes that is my conclusion too. The other sectors are all Ok so wont chance a start again, but will call at some point to see if they will allow this direct flight, seats are available I see, might get lucky.

Hey Dale,

they are both in Asia Region 2 so believe its 30k and 45k (return).

The second chart lists China in Zone 1 - bad, bad, bad! Australia - China is my primary use of AA Miles, Zone 1 is 10K Miles more than Zone 2 (J).
Am I missing something?

hi guys, i've got a question to the wise ones out there.
as everyone knows USDM merged their bookings with AA and today i received an email with my new record locator for AA for a USDM award booking i made months ago.
however every time i try to use the locator i get an error message "We are unable to retrieve your reservation with the information provided. Please verify your information and re-submit. Otherwise, if you need assistance, please contact AA.com Web Services."

i've called AA.com helpdesk and also AAdvantage and am told they can see my record locator on their system with the correct itin but no one can seem to fix my problem of not being able to pull up my record on the AA website

they tell me they've tagged my booking to my AAdvantage account too but when i go into my account there's no flights under "reservations"

the aa.com CSR even told me to just leave it alone and that there's nothing they can do and it will never be fixed... which is rather startling...

i must prefer to be able to view my itin online and periodically check on it.

does anyone have any tips on who i can speak to or what i can do? or is anyone else in a similar situation?

this issue has cropped up alot - they is some mention on FT that such booking may be accessed using a smartphone/tablet running the AA app.

Have you tried plugging the AA record locator into another one world website eg Qantas? I know that works if you have flights on QF metal in your itinerary, not sure what happens if you don't. But worth a try probably.

I don't think the AA record locator will work - you need the PNR.

I'm not aware there is a difference between the two terms ?
I thought they could be and are used interchangeably ?

There is a very big difference between the two. The AA number can only be used by AA to check in and check your details on the AA website. As noted above if you have flights o other airlines you need to get the PNR.

If you have Qantas flights on the itinerary you can enter the AA record locator into QF and it will show in MMB and you will also see the PNR.

The PNR is able to be used on checkmytrip.com to check your flight details.

Your US air booking normally provides different reference to other OW carriers. These will get you to your reservation.
If you do not have any other record locator go to Saudi Air site and access your booking by way of the ticket number ( don't worry about the last couple of digits). You will get here your full itinerary and the booking status.

"Record Locator" is basically equivalent to "PNR". They are interchangeable.

"PNR" is an abbreviation of "passenger name record".

However AA use SABRE for their GDS (booking system) while Qantas use "Amadeus".

When there is a reservation ticketed by QF with AA flights or vice-versa there will be both QF and AA "Record Locator"/"PNR"'s for the same booking - the actual 6 charter codes will almost certainly be different.

Having posted that we are referring to an AA reference and they need to sort this issue out.

FWIW, USair used "Shares" - that's what the original PNR would have referenced before last weekend.

the flight was originally ticketed through USDM, now merged into a AA record locator which i cannot access on the AA website itself.

It does have QF segments and i have a separate QF PNR - that hasn't changed of course and i can still see the QF flight and the whole itin on the QF site.

interestingly, when i plug the new AA record locator into the QF site it can pull up my itin as Hvr suggested above... however that new AA record locator doesn't work on either the AA site itself or on the CX site (there's also a CX flight as part of the itin... to see the CX flight i plug in the CX/QF PNR which are both the same and hasn't changed)

so basically the original ticketing carrier has given me a new record locator which i cannot access on the AA website itself, however can access on only the QF but also not the CX pages.

frustrating.

Quick query - I can find award space DRW - LAX coming up in a few months, but it doesn't strech to any NYC area airports. I can get it to PHL and various others, but not NYC. Any tips on how to strech this to NYC at all?
