It appears that 5 rows are configured with business class seats and armrests. The first 3 rows are 2x2 and the next 2 rows are 3x3. Are the seats the same as the economy seats?

Yesterday on QF771 SYD-CBR I was allocated 5C and could not select a seat further foward. The first 4 rows were designated business class with only 3 people sitting there. The same aircraft was used for QF819 CBR-MEL but I was allocated 4D. All the rows in front had passengers and I had rows 4, 5 and 6 all to myself. There appeared to be some QF staff, not in uniform, in business. Both flights had medium loads.

Also the crew of QF771 continued on to another flight and we picked up MEL crew. The same crew operated QF490 MEL-SYD, last flight of the night, and they were going to return to MEL, I assume as crew on another flight. I heard a few them say they wanted to go home as they have been away for the last couple of nights. I dind't think domestic crew spent time away from home.

The whole flight scheduling area appears difficult to comprehend. QF490 MEL-SYD was to be operated with a 737-800 arriving from AKL but apparently had ice on the wings and not enough time to clear it. Luckily they had a spare 737-800 sitting around and at the last minute changed us from gate 22 back to gate 2. First off there was no catering and free booze for the duration of the flight as compensation, then we sat there waiting for the aircraft to refuel and then we had catering with a return to alcohol rations for the flight. Arrived in SYD only 5 minutes after scheduled arrival!

Yep for those who travel from/to ports that get a lot of 734's it's always good to snaffle a roe 5 or less in WHY.

I think you'll find yesterday was a very light day for travel and there may have been quite a few 'cancellations" with two less than ½ full loads been compressed onto the one flight. It's with that when you get a lot of crew being re-positioned as PAX.

I've got 4A this afternoon on a 734. (Not aisle as international cnx and my window international profile was used).

Gotta love those convertible seats that can switch between 2x2 and 3x3. I used to regulalry do CBR-ADL and ADL-PER, and while the two flights were generally the same aircarft, the business class cabin would change size while we were on the ground.

10 years ago, all Qantas 733's and 734's had the first 2 rows of the cabin set up for First class and rows 3-7 would be convertible.

I travelled with a business associate a lot and being on the one PNR on of us would score a B or an E seat. It was interesting when it was in a convertible seats as the central seats cushion was not as worn as the window or aisle and you would feel like you were sitting higher than those around you.
