So you mean the lounges are not overcrowded? I cannot believe a company rep from Qantas would say the lounges are overcrowded therefore we are removing Anytime access from Platinums and it was not actually true. Do you?
Whether or not I think they're overcrowded isn't relevant.
I was just postulating that this thread would quickly descend into discussion about overcrowding. It kind of did.
You know, the whole thing about anytime access removal? It's done. That ship has sailed and no amount of complaining about it on AFF is going to bring it back (sure, it's good to vent sometimes).
It's clear that the overcrowding justification QF gave was either a) mostly wrong, b) mostly lies, c) a bit of both.
It's also clear that QFs tactic to deal with the anytime access fallout is just to say nothing and let the issue slowly die. Which is basically what has happened.
So, what's my point? I've just accepted that this is the way they operate.
They'll make vague and ill-defined justifications for QFF program changes and they'll only engage us on the forums when it suits them.
I don't see any point in getting all up in arms about "enhancements" any more. QF has killed my sense of loyalty to their brand so I'll just jump ship from the QFF program if/when it suits me. There's no sense in over-thinking it. Loyalty is a two-way street. While there's still decent traffic going in both directions, I'll stay. Otherwise, I'm out. Simple.
FWIW I do think the MEL QC lounge is overcrowded sometimes.
