The Roo taketh and the Roo giveth ... SCs at a cost.

"The new codeshare services will allow our customers to enjoy more connections across North America, Canada and Mexico from our Los Angeles and new San Francisco gateways and have their luggage checked straight through to their final destination,” really Gareth? None of this was possible on just a single ticket across two carriers??

BD

As far as the AA routes are concerned, these 'new routes' appear to be as a result of the final stage of the merger between AA and US - where US flight numbers turn to AA ones.

I wonder why it all wasn't announced within a Qantas Newsletter, below the car hire and hotel offers. Red Roo?

Will there be a separate announcement thread from Qantas on the 40 new status credit earning tables?

I see benefit in the arrangement with WestJet. Takes the risk out of connections with trips to Calgary/Banff for example.

How does an connection with a codeshare (on the one ticket) provide a greater protection than a connection with Westjet (on the one ticket)?

BD

If connection is missed, Qantas will sort out new fight. Previously, it would have been too bad and flight/cost lost. Unless I'm being too optimistic?

Edit: just reread your post. Didn't think you could get a westjet flight on the same ticket. At least you couldn't a few years back.

Just did a dummy booking on Expedia. Yep, possible to book QF/Westjet (in among the codeshares) even provides the estimated baggage fees charged by Westjet.
