40,000 QFF points for $74?

40,000 points hit both mine and hubbies account today. YAY!

Have others who received the points already cancelling now, or are you waiting until the free 2 months is up?

The T&C’s are quite clear that you forfeit the 2 free months of the plan for terminating early.


You are likely misinterpreting the meaning of that clause. It likely simply means that you are no longer entitled to the free service once you cancel. IE you can’t continue to use the service for no cost. There is nothing mentioned about charging you any money if you cancel.

I’ll be cancelling in the next couple of weeks with basically zero worry of having to cough up anything but the cost of the phone.

It really amazes me how many people can't interpret a basic contract they sign. I suggest you look again at your plan and look at the 'Minimum Cost' stipulation in big letters.
 
I'm comfortable that if I cancel within the first month then I'll either be paying $79 or $159. For me the 40 000 points were still worth it. The latter is still .4 cents per point wgich is well under even conservative valuations of QFF points, especially for premium travel.

I wish someone would cancel soon to settle the debate! I may on Monday coming, just need to use uber eats voucher on one of the phones! Which helps offset the costs a tiny bit anyway.

It will be very interesting how the terms are interpreted.
Whilst there is a minimum plan cost there is also a section of the critical information summary which quotes

"There are no Early Exit Fees on this Plan, however, if you chose to cancel, 100% of any remaining handset instalments will be applied to your next bill."

Couple this with two months free access and there could be some fun and games when people start to cancel.
 
'Early Exit Fee' means there is no fee to break the contract because it's month to month.

It's very simple:
  • Cancel in the second month and you will pay two months of the plan (the second month is not prorated) and the entire handset cost; or
  • Cancel in the third month and you will only pay one month of the plan (because the first two months are free) and the entire handset cost.
 
My points came in shortly after Christmas. I will be interested to read what the first person who cancels gets charged and will work from there.

Just cancelled 5 minutes ago.
She said month to month contract so no fee just have to pay for the phone which she said is $74. All done and she said that will charge will be on the next bill

To not be charged the first month you have invoked the Vodafone Network Guarantee which allows you to cancel in the first month for free.

From the Vodafone Qantas Points T/Cs:

Customers who elect to cancel their Eligible Plan pursuant to a claim under the Vodafone Network Guarantee will not be eligible to receive any Eligible Points.

I dont think the customer has "invoked" the network guarantee, which entails full refund including returning the handset. This to me sounds like they have simply cancelled the plan, the fact that they've done so in the first month is merely coincidental.
 
I just called and had a customer service officer confirm the same information as henleybeach, too bad i procrastinated in making the call and the cancellation team were closed so wasn't able to actually follow through. I was told they are open tomorrow 9am-6pm so will be making a call to finalise it.

I’m not too sure they will take the points back off me , I bought carton of wine and got 10k bonus points , had one bottle , didn’t like it, returned it for free and they’ve never taken the points back

I called this morning as well and received the same info. As was suggested, the only cost is the handset, NOT the $80 plan fee.

The network guarantee involves returning the device. The poster has chosen to pay for and keep the device so has NOT invoked this at all.
 
Cancelled the plan this morning - was quoted $99 for the handset and they said the $25 was off the plan and not the phone. Although the call centre was horrible to deal with and probably just as clueless as they were inept.

If its $74 or $99, I don't really care.

I'm selling the handset(s) for $50 each, used Uber eats $20 voucher on both numbers.

80,000 Qantas points for $8 or $58 - I'll take them! :)
 
When claiming the points is there any difference to putting in a Qantas Frequent Flyer (personal customers) or Qantas Business Rewards (business customers) membership?
