I'm looking at a flight in Y March next year from Narita back to Sydney. Interestingly, looking at the seatmap I see that one of the options has a 4-class configuration with legacy F in the nose. Now from what I understand (having never flown this configuration) that there is some opportunity to select a seat in the next cabin, e.g. on this particular flight the seatmap shows all of regular Y+ blocked out, with the Y+ cabin assigned to the downstairs J cabin.
I was wondering what are the chances of booking Y but obtaining a Y+ seat (with Y service)? At the date of the flight I'll be BA Gold (OW Emerald) and my partner will be QF SG. The downside is if there isn't much chance in this happening, and barring aircraft substitutions, I would be sitting in a non-refurbed Y seat.. anyone have any experience?
