3K going from most profitable SIN LCC operator to least profitable of QF group???

Jan traffic figures released by QF today show some pain, but the 3k figures are a worry!

25% drop in RPKs and an 8% drop in yield ( RSF)!

hard to see how they are going to achieve profitability with those nosediving figures - the planned reduction in SIN-MEL probably won't help either (if that's classed as 3K of course but probably JQi)

<EDIT> seems like it is due to a change in reporting: 3K international figures moved to JQi from 1 July 201

They dropped a few of the recently increased SIN-KUL frequencies quietly a few weeks ago.

I am not surprised at that move, $10 airfares and you still have a load of 45% is not good based on the flight I took two weeks ago.

Indeed, the amount of $0 sales was ridiculous. Have seen a few $2 ones around but the rest are around $10-$30. Still question how they are going to make money...and really they offer nothing over any other LCC in SE Asia except for the ability to pay extra to get points and SCs in QFF.

Edit: Well, they do offer arrival in to the main terminal at KUL instead of the LCCT so that is something tangible.

So..even after all the hype of offering $ 0,2,10 fares on this sector, the 'stimulants" could not translate into decent revenue & obvious diminished sustainability.

In a way it is surprising to me, given that they fly in to the KL main terminal and not KLCC.

I wonder how much extra that costs them...

Wonder if they will move to KLIA2 or is that just the official name for the Air Asia Terminal

I fly 3K from SIN to KUL just so that I can use the KL main terminal rather than the LCCT.
However once KLIA2 is up and running then there wouldn't be much of an advantage anymore. AK has more frequencies.

LF for my flight KUL to SIN last week was about 70%. I paid around A$30 for 2 pax (price match Tiger) so I think they would be happy to lose my business!

Hahahaha. I am not surprised. 3K suck cough. My man even joked about them getting all the meals out of a giant soft serve 'bog machine' because the food is all variations on brown slops. Such a bad move by QF transferring PER-SIN to 3K.. as if it's any kind of replacement for the usual QFi passenger... and a great way to alienate corporate travel accounts who ever go to Asia (which is the lion's share of businesses in Australia who have staff travelling internationally). Not to mention the pathetic on time running, cancellations, and battle for overhead locker space.
Fail and rot 3K.
