Hi all,

I was just looking through a couple of my international bookings in my account when I noticed it's asking for $25 to select a seat. My seats are already selected but it looks as if it would charge me if I were to move seats. This was definitely not there when I booked these a couple months ago!

I'm hoping it's a glitch in the system. But if not, why introduce such a thing?! Qantas will be getting a call about this.

Thoughts?

Before you start cracking the ****s, is your FF number in the booking?

Otherwise probably a system issue :)

Edit: Continue on with the seat change, does it ask for any payment?

Always a worry to read these threads and learn of new enhancements.

It is OK I am not panicking now....

Is happening to me as well. I made some changes yesterday to a couple of NZ-Aust flights and when I went to select my normal row 4 seat, the system wanted to charge me $25. The bookings clearly have my FF number and I'm WP. In my case continuing on with the seat selection process brings up the credit card screen seeking payment.
I rang QF and while they seemed ignorant of this issue, they sorted out my seating no problem so clearly not a policy change
However I tried some other bookings this morning and same problem occurs. I have sent them an email and screen shot

I didnt even notice till it threw up a page asking for my credit card.

Wow. No kidding, it also ask for $25 on my booking. Did not happen a week ago. Today I looked at the booking to see
"Advance Seat Selection. You can request this seat for AUD$25.00" all over the place (from booking page, seat selection page, when you click the seat) and it actually ask for CC details when I went to confirm the seat request.

Trialing for another "enchancement"?

No issues domestic luckily, but hopefully it's just a bug!

Seat selection for domestic flights have always been free, it's just sections of the cabin were blocked according to your status.

I'm QF SG and recently booked a flight with Finnair ($600 cheaper on the exact same flights!) and noticed it wants to charge me $25 for advanced seat selection on the QF operated sectors. What happens with OW partner seat selection? I'm sure I've done it with Qantas in the past when booked on a Qantas operated flight with a non-QF flight code? Finnair's site will only let me select seats on the AY sectors.

I have a feeling, if people with status who usually have free seating start paying for this, they'll keep it going! I'm never paying...

I had the same $25 charge and credit card screen. The QF metal sectors were free but the AA sector (with Qf flight number) from JFK to RDU wanted $25. I didn't proceed.

hopefully its a glitch, i had a different type of glitch where my ticket turned into a voucher which i happened to have come across coz i was bored. Otherwise i wonder what would have happened if i turned up to the airport on that day!!

Second ongoing glitch, gift voucher booking ($350 to book a 150 segment) did not turn into ticket, and when called up, they said will take till monday to turn into a ticket (i booked a week ago) and also there is no new voucher issued even though i was meant to get $200. Lucky i had my screen shot showing remaining $200 etc etc ! Still fighting this one out.

Sorry for the OT. Bloody glitches is getting pretty annoying and time consuming....

I have a PER/SYD/PER booking which allowed me to select seats as per normal with my WP number in the booking. I never saw any screens asking for payment, it was just same as usual.

Hopefully it was just a glitch that's now been sorted.

Domestic seat selection doesn't have a fee. Never got charged as a NB, PS or SG.

It's just international flights that have a fee for seat selection.

I saw this 25$ fee with some QF codeshare fight numbers on AA metal last year.

I bypassed that and selected "premium" seating at no cost using the AA SABRE PNR on AA.com.
