G'day all,

I'll soon be hitting the 2,400 SC mark.
I've looked at the available benefits, and did some calculations:

* Gold card to someone - likely your significant other, partner etc. would travel with you anyway so may not get full benefit.
* 3 limo service to home - conservatively assuming one of these costs $120, this is worth $360
* 50,000 points - this looks like the undisputed winner given the above, and can be quite flexible as well.

Am I missing something here? What is the general feel on the best award to choose?

Cheers!

I should reach that mark in a month or so and I will be taking the extra 50,000 QFF points.

Congrats on your upcoming 2400 sc's.

I always choose 50k points. Best value there for me.

Partner gold for me.. I've given it to my brother for the last couple of years.. He makes good use of it.

It's been PG for me for quite a few years. PartnerJohnM and I are LATS (Google that or add Bernard Salt and you'll get the explanation that I've given before). She still works full time; I dabble. So it means that PG can be useful as we often travel independently and meet somewhere overseas. 2100 SC used to be the total needed BTW .

I went the 50,000 points after checking with number two son who does not have Qantas Club Life as it was cut before he could join. I will do a JASA to MEL,SYD or BNE as that maximizes the retail value for domestic flights.

Gift Gold can be better value if your partner intends to travel on AA/QF to collect more than say 40K in status bonus, even more so if mainly on their own and have no other status.

Other than that the 50k is generally better value.

As suggested by another member here a pearl of advice, get the best of both worlds.

I gifted my mum the Gold, and she transferred the 50k points to me.

Everyone's a winner.

I'm another one who took the 50,000 points and made very good use of them with a JASA during a DSC offer.

I could be aiming for this much later in the year, and have always thought about the best course of action when I do get there. In a DSC period, the 50k points leads very close to P1, but the generous side of me wants to gift a lounge membership, so it is tricky ;)

Thanks heaps to everyone for their tips and the congratulations!
My partner is a lucky owner of a Westpac Black card so she has a couple lounge invites already. And most of the time we travel together so she can enjoy F lounge anyway. :)
So I decided to choose the 50K points as well!
