Ricciardo gets 3 grid spot penalty for Miami!!!
Hulk overtook him as he was shunted off by Stroll, so on the next restart he went back in front of Hulk but wasnt allowed to or something??
It would have been a 10 second penalty but he couldnt serve it as he was retired.
Actually, the problem was they issued the penalty post-race meaning RB had no options open to them. If the penalty had been issued during the race (similar to what was done to Alonso during the Sprint), RB could have “pulled a RBR-Perez” and sent Danny back out to serve the penalty (as the car was drivable, albeit seriously performance-limited) and then re-retire the car, thus avoiding the Miami grid drop.

On a brighter note, good to see Danny put in a decent weekend. Hopefully the start of his season turnaround. Granted Yuki has considerably less experience with the Shanghai circuit, but Danny’s 0.5s gap in outright Quali pace over Yuki is a great outcome. His race was always going to be compromised by the strategy, but all in all, I’d say it was a good weekend for him.

The race before Alonso got 20 seconds for scaring Russell off the track...not actually touching him...
Stroll rams Ricciardo into Piastri under SAFETY CAR, blames Ricciardo for Braking and gets 10 seconds...there is no common sense to the rules here.

Agree
But lots of weird decisions like this (poor Lewis all those years ago).
I have a question for the forum
Anyone bought a hospitality package for Melbourne before for the Sunday?
Experience /approx cost and how easy to get.
I notice some have paddock walks included
I am down for registration for early ticket notification.
All input welcome

Newey set to leave Red Bull

Oh My God Wow GIF

So is he taking up the big money offer from Papa Stroll? Or will he live the dream of linking with Hamilton + Ferrari? Gardening leave awaits, but this will be juicy!!!

This will cause an earthquake at Red Bull. IMO he is much more valuable to the team that VER. His design genius will lift whichever team he chooses to go to, and he can pretty much name his own price. And just when we thought the Horner incident had been put to rest…
This article suggests he can start working for a new team next season.

That is very big news!
Well papa Stroll bought Alonso for Lance’s 21st so how about Newey? At least Lance will never lose his seat😂
But then again Ferrari Hamilton Newey and winning would be delicious

I think with Newey's future up in the air (about which team he may go to) we might see a lot of drivers want to leave their options open in order to get into a Newey car. Every single team will want Newey, so it will be quite the process for him to decide where to go. Whoever gets him will be sent pretty much every driver's CV and expression of interest in joining that particular team.

So come on everyone, time for wild, fanciful conjecture!!

Adrian Newey to sign off his glittering career by fulfilling his long-held desire to work with the Scuderia and help propel Lewis Hamilton to a record 8th World Championship.

Very interesting. Might make the F1 series more interesting. Although he's 65 these days, Newey's much more valuable than some car jockey so his new contract will be in the 8-9 million figure range I would imagine.

My turn:

Adrian Newey was unable to be released out of his contract until end 2025. So he has moved to RB to stay in the Red Bull 'family'. SAI and RIC have each subsequently signed a three year contract with RB. No news yet on where TSU will go.

I know we’re talking fanciful conjecture, but frankly, I don’t think SAI will touch RBR/VCARB with a 50 foot barge pole!

I'm not sure we will see Newey anywhere until, at the earliest, 2026 or 27. I cannot see Red Bull releasing him early or not sending him on gardening leave for an extended period.
Depends how keen another team is on buying him out of the existing contract. If there’s one thing I’ve learnt following F1 over the years, it’s that contracts mean absolutely nothing if the right funding is available and the right negotiations take place.
