2019 Travel Plans

off to Toronto this year, for the first time.
going the long way haha.

SYD>SIN>TPE>YYZ all in J (& the same for the return)
get to try EVA Air's awesome business class and hopefully the hello kitty plane from SIN to TPE (unless the schedule changes, my then 2y4m son should enjoy it)

My plans are to continue my steady climb to QF LTG courtesy of their generosity in their DSC promos. Flying should be a little less than 2018 for both sectors and mileage (I'm trying reverse psychology) and the percentage will increase to QF.

2019 Xmas - my wife wants to be in England to visit her best friend who lives there - a white Xmas has been requested. Should be utilising the rest of my AA stash of points (hoping it's enough for 1 or 2 pax) and only have to pay for 2 or at worst 3 pax. CX via HKG or QF via SIN (haven't been there in 10 years) should be on the cards.

Start my flying next week with a trip to MEL.

All I have planned at the moment is a week to Japan in late Feb (assuming work ever approves my leave so I can get these flights booked )

Other then that, likely another RTW late in the year (5-6 weeks some time between late July and late Nov) and 1 or 2 short trips (4-7 days) to Japan and/or the US later in the year (July or Sep).

So envious of some people’s amazing travel plans. Perhaps when the kid is self sufficient and I retire....live in hope

Going to Minneapolis in April to visit kid then 3 days poking around Lake Superior and Chicago.

Any recommendations on must visit places gratefully received.

Well my forecast has become reality now, due to some very nice sales ex-EU. F return booked to BKK (with a J return from there to KTM) for our early year trip. Then we have also booked a J return for our later year trip to LAX for a road trip through Palm Springs (to see my cousins new weekend place) and onto Nevada for some national parks and our first look at Vegas.

Travel plans may need to change when travelling to Germany !! They are going on strike over wages. ( Today)

Having said that LOT Polish airlines won the best Eastern European Airline over the likes of Aeroflot, Wizzair and a Croatian airline.

There'd be no competition over Aeroflot and Wizzair anyway....... it's like shooting fish in a barrel!

So despite a prestigious tag to it it’s not that fantastic a prize. That’s what I thought too. Poland is Central when you look at Europe as a whole. I think they will be getting out of that rut soon. As a safe destination however with no Truckstops perfect!! Love Poland

May: Melbourne to Nagoya and return: CX
June: Melbourne to San Francisco and return: NZ
August: RTW Melbourne-Boston-Zurich/Frankfurt-Seoul-Sydney-Melbourne (United/Swiss/Lufthansa/Asiana/Qantas)

Got good deals on each in the "early bird" sales.

Plus several JQ trips Melbourne to Sydney - again booked well in advance.

And will probably do another NZ Melbourne-San Francisco and return later in the year.

I've got a good QF FF balance but these days I tend to look for the best deals rather than get too fussed about the points; never quite sure if that's the appropriate strategy for a 68yo retiree.

It's absolutely the best strategy - who cares about loyalty when the airlines don't, it's a 2 way street!
