Ants, have you read the threads on this site about the Citibank Gold no annual fee ever.
Hey Dizey,

Yeah I've read that one - and thought about it but I'll have to speak to my wife :) She's not necessarily keen on us having too many cards - and me either so we can keep track of our money :) But it's a GREAT idea.

ANZ has some quite severe point limits if you have a high spend, whilst some others have a poor exchange rate ($2 spend to 1 QF FF point) and others have relatively generous exchange rates ($1 spend to 1.5 QF FF points).
We've noticed that too - kinda crazy. I was joking last night that you could get 2.5points per $1 if you paid off a credit card with a credit card. Obviously bad monetary policy so I can confidently say I won't be doing it ;) ha ha ha.

Normally this wouldn't work since to pay one off from another would need a cash advance and , ime, FF points are not awarded on cash advances

LOL! I have heard Nelly (NM) called a lot of things but never a she. :p He should really change that signature with reference to the fictitious Nelly Mobbs.
hehehe ... on the internet you can be anyone you want to be  . And sometimes you are someone you don't want to be  .

If you anyone has a few hours to spare, they really must read GoldFlyers entire trip report (SYD to LHR on a Plane) where Nelly was born - along with several other interesting characters.

What the, all this time I thought NM was a bloke.
I ask Mrs NM for her verdict ;) .

NM will have a chuckle when he reads this thread tomorrow.
chuckle was definitely the operative word this morning :D .

I find FT to be a bit too congested - I prefer this forum as its a smaller community with specific relevance to myself.

I find that over on FT, almost every page gives me the 'Operation Aborted' error message. I have tried it on different computers and has been going on for at least a year, and they still haven't fixed it.

Also a lot of the time, you get the top of the page but no 'detail'..

Ahhh... I knew that?

A trick with FT is to keep you mouse cursor right away from the browser window as it loads.

I used to get these errors all the time until I realized a 'mouse over' event was causing problems if the page was not fully loaded. This should fix both of those issues.

This forum is great for things relating to Australian Flying, Travel and Reward Schemes.

FlyerTalk can be really useful for other thing like OS travel.

I'm off to BKK this weekend and I found this thread invaluable: BKK Airport Taxi Situation? - FlyerTalk Forums

And you can get some good information on questions posed there: Mobile Phone in Hong Kong - FlyerTalk Forums (I rated this one for meas "Tip of the Year!", OMG a 10 minute call to Oz for 40¢)

And here I was thinking that this was only happening to me. It is so frustrating sometimes I have to refresh the page 3 or 4 times before it will display.

keep the mouse well away from the top (or alternatively find another browser as I understand it is only an issue for IE)

I will have to give it a try, as I have found that one of the annoyances of FT.

Mind you since the upgrade I don't seem to get much of a header on the page. Just a vBulletin graphic.

My problem is I get bored easily. So waiting for FT page to load I continually move the cursor all over the place.

Broadband install on Monday so hopefully page will load quicker.

Download firefox and use tabbed browsing; you can then review one page while another couple are loading. This without opening new windows and save quite a bit PC's memory for faster processing.

I currently have 6 tabs open; three of which have finished lading while I input this post ...

I don't mean to be unpopular but I much prefer IE7 to Firefox..

I don't have to check the compatibility issues I had with Fox, it seems much quicker and more 'accepted'. I also had a problem with Fox in that after opening say, 10 tabs, the whole thing would disappear. Just there, and then gone, all the windows - the whole application.

I still think it's crazy that Flyertalk haven't fixed it. Why would you do a site, where you want as many visitors as possible, not working for 90% of users? Insanity.

I prefer IE as well and I have never used Firefox. I prefer to install as little as possible on my laptop. Mouse over events taking control are just a poor excuse for bad programming!

How unpopular am I? I am still using IE6! I haven't had the internet connected long enough for the download to complete in the last 3 or 4 times I have tried.

Try FireFox 2; more intelligent tabbing and a built in Spell Checker; not to mention Adblock+.

I use both and was a great fan of and prefered to use FFox until IE7 and FFox2 came out. Since then FFox crashes all the time and IE7 is faster and more user friendly than FFox1 ever was.

I have had no issues with FFox 2; but still have IE6 on my PC.

I know it's a long bow to draw, but Maybe MS have discretely incorporated some software with IE7 that has some effect on FF?

FWIW, I'm using XP, upgraded from win98.
