1k QFF for spending $30 at Terry White Chemists

I wouldn't go out of my way (which I'd need to) to spend at an overpriced TW for 500 QF points. If I could makea spend (i.e $2.00 shop) then maybe, but not $30.

$30 doesn't go very far with the current prices of over the counter meds.

It was worth wandering

Now Terry White offering 500 QFF points for spending a (random) $49.

Don't think that appeals to me.

The email went straight to my trash folder. They will need to do better than that.

In practice it really depends on your monthly spend on over the counter medications and what is on sale. It may align. It may not.

That is what you find when wandering
Fred

PS Post 65s spend a lot more time and $$ in pharmacies.....

Mine was 500 points for $30 this time round, ended 11 Oct, before I had time and pay to go and get something.
Indeed seems random, some got email saying spend $49, me I got 500 offer for spending $30.
As Wandering_fred mentioned, it might depend on if you have been ignoring the TWC offers, and their minimum spend required will drop.
Will wait for their next offer and see what comes.

Whilst I did spend a $30 offer in April (for 1000 points), I've ignored Terry White offers, and the other accounts that have ignored it totally also received $49 offers, so consistency is not there.

I suspect Terry will continue to get my business - though at a lower value level. They are somewhat less expensive on "some" items and they are the local "compounding" chemist.

Perhaps less wandering

I'm still sad to see the end of this.

Any reduction in opportunities to earn QFF points is a backward step (in my opinion).
Its quite a possibility that TWChemart wasn't too pleased that that other chemist company aka SuperPharmacy joined under the WW part of the QFF agreement.
This "kaput" we are finished email came from TWChemart.

Totally agree Fred, for years my local 777 pharmac_ bled me dry, so a switch to Chemist Warehouse reduced my expenditure from $75pm to $21.

Chemist Warehouse spend a lot on marketing but are not competitive on a lot of their range with supermarket or other pharmacies.

For the consumer yes, there's no question this is a loss.

The reason I wasn't surprised is that it was always difficult to see what QFF gained from the relationship other than the minimal revenue from customer spend at Terry White. The highest spenders at a pharmac_ seem unlikely to fit the "frequent flyer" type for various reasons - health, age, caring responsibilities, etc. That also makes you wonder whether Terry White themselves saw any increase in customer loyalty after introducing QFF earning, although I suspect they were mostly motivated by QFF's gigantic marketing database.

We've seen recently that QF Loyalty seems to offer a good deal to get partners onboard, then tightens the screws at the 24 month renewal going off the announcement from Switch Telecom. It's could be speculated that something similar has happened here - if QFF isn't benefiting from the partnership, they propose a significant change to the commercials so they do get something. And if the partner leaves, they get their sales team in front of other pharmac_ chain execs with a recent case study on how QFF created tens of thousands of Terry White rewards sign-ups, and the cycle continues..

TWChemart wasn't too pleased that that other chemist company aka SuperPharmacy joined under the WW part of the QFF agreement.

SuperPharmacy didn't join under any part of the QFF agreement. They partnered with Woolworths Rewards which is an entirely separate program to Qantas Frequent Flyer.

There is nothing more to this relationship other than Woolworths Rewards points being transferable to Qantas Frequent Flyer.

IMO it's highly unlikely that this was a motivating factor.

For the items I buy, they certainly are. Apart from the cheaper scrips mentioned, things like Dove body wash are $13 in Woolies, $6.50 in CW. I only visit them once a month and cherry pick the items I want so I'm well in front.

For those interested in wanting to take advantage of the 1000 point bonus offer before it expires at the end of the month, is to be careful when signing up for a Terry White account. If you go to their website, click myTWC and sign up there, they will enroll you in their new program which doesn't let you link to QFF. However, if you go to their older Rewards page and sign up there one of the first questions it will ask is if you want to link your QFF:

After signing up I received an email welcoming me to the club and asking if I want to activate myTWC for 300 bonus points. I'm guessing, I should just ignore that email as it will unlink my QF program?

As for whether it's a good program or not, I'll wait and see when the bonus points appear. As someone who takes over-the-counter medication regularly (e.g. allergy medicine) it is very easy for me to both hit the $30 minimum spend and not feel ripped off. As a matter of fact, I'm seeing their generic Zyrtec selling for $39 for 100 tablets, certainly cheaper than prices I've seen elsewhere (albeit nowhere as cheap as in Canada where one could grab 180 tablets for $14 + tax at the local Costco).

Update: Popped into TerryWhite today @ Westfield Hornsby to get a prescription refilled and to also pick up a 100 pack of generic Zyrtec (for $38.95 not bad). I'm guessing that's considered an "essential" activity by the current health order? In any event, showed my linked rewards card which was accepted then looked at my receipt after checking out. It's reporting I earned 116.85 points off this transaction which is somewhat confusing as I thought it would transfer immediately over to QF points.

Does anyone have experience with this? How long does it normally take for points and bonuses to point from TerryWhite?

Your Trusty,

Looks like you were correct about the points posting on the 15th:

If folks want to net the 1000 bonus points, I'd recommend signing up for it now since you'll have 90 days from when you sign up and link your QF account (before July 31st) to spend that $30 in-store to get said bonus. In my case purchasing a bulk amount (100 tablets) of anti-histamine did the trick!
