Undoubtedly this is another great points buying opportunity. But surely US (or via AA merger) will be 'enhancing' their partner award redemptions in quick time. Propping up your balance sheet via a cheap points sales is an easy and quick way to realise immediate financial reporting benefit, and given that we haven't seen a devaluation on either airlines for some time I fear the timing it is very likely.
If the devaluation is anything like the recent United devaluation, things are looking bleak. That said, until we know (if at all) to what extent the points are devalued, this offer is most welcomed and I will be partaking to the fullest extent in both of my US Air accounts.
