I and +1 each have a US Airways account with 200K US airway miles in each which I assume will convert to AA at 1:1 with the merger (we don't have any plans to book *A flights before the merger). So for USD $567.50 x2, I can top up each account by 50K to 250K...not sure what to do:confused:; what are others doing?

Wow. I'm now very happy about my decision to only buy 5k points in the November promo. I will definitely be buying/sharing this month if this news indeed is true. It's gotta be worth hoarding points speculatively at this price. The credit card needs a break though.

I am hoarding for AA...330k, 50k and 100k if the share is true i will be doing max shares possible. The min i can use them i am booking flights

Hmmm, wish i had looked here first, just bought 80,000 miles this morning with the buy promo, same amount spent would have gotten me 100,000 miles with the share promo....

I have enough miles for a few more USDM redemptions i would like to book for next year...

Still might do another share to build up the supply post the AA merger...

I have an account and so does my +1 we don't have any points. Is anyone willing to share to me? I understand there is a cost involved etc and willing to discuss this further if anyone is willing to help.

Shellthom, I only joined last Sunday, but/and I was also wondering if I could find someone to share. Let me know if that is of interest to you. Though of course i don't have any points either. I guess that's not going to work either.

Yeah I have no points so its not going to work - but for there is a rule about accounts being open for more than 12 days. So I am not sure if you will get the bonus points. Mine has been open for months but I haven't been in the position to buy them when the promos were on. I might just take Tuhin up on the offer for the vouchers so he can get the points. (QF 10 x points voucher offer)

Re: US Dividend Miles - Award Booking Questions and General Discussion

That's much better value than buying miles.

Usd567.50 per 50,000 miles.

You'd only end up with 50,000 as well as by the time someone shared with you 50,000 and you ended up with 100,000 then you would have to share back, a bare minimum anyway of 25,000 so the original person got there 50,000 back, leaving you with 75,000 or if they wanted to get a share back of a 50,000 (and a bonus 50,000 for them) and you're left with 50,000...

Or someone chould share 50,000 to your +1 and they share 50,000 to your account (ending up with 100,000) and share either 25,000 or 50,000 back to the original sharer i suppose (leaving their account with 0 or 25,000 miles)...

Hmm silly question, can I buy points then share them with my +1 (who does not currently have an account)? Or would this not work because he needs an account for >12 days?

If one person has miles, with three transactions, each of 50,000 miles costing 567.50, you can end up with 150,000 miles.

A starts sharing 50,000 miles with B (A is -50k, B is +100k)

B shares with A (B finishes with 50k, A ends with nett 50k)

A shares with C (A ends with 0, C ends with 100k)

So, B with 50k, C with 100k. Total 150k.

Total cost 3x $567.50.

This kind of puts a kibbosh on the idea US might slow down their promos. 100% share is as good as it gets for US Air!!

Indeed!

The fantastic value is offset by the fact that these promotions are rare (it's been more popular this year than previous years, on a moving average basis), and if you have no miles to start with, it doesn't really help you out.

Also, with the predicted promotion period to be about five days or so, this means anyone who doesn't have an account already with US DM pretty much instantly misses out on this one.

ShareBonus

Share 10,000-19,000 Dividend Miless 50% bonus mile
Share 20,000-29,000 Dividend Miles 75% bonus miles
Share 30,000-50,000 Dividend Miles 100% bonus miles
Is there a limit to the amount of miles one can share / receive each year?

Any limits US has are always per promo, not per any time period.
