Having trouble signing up to Altitude. Keep getting a msg saying 'This card is not recognised or you are not the primary cardholder'.
Ive tried both the mastercard and amex to sign up and both have same msg. Have been using both cards and am close to the 5k spend.
I wouldn't already have an Altitude account would I, just for getting the cc?

Interesting that the latest WBC customer promotion (50k QFF for platinum/black altitude + complementary 1st annual fee) specifically excludes only current or former (12Mts) Altitude platinum/black card holders from receiving 50k QFF (and comp annual fee). Nothing about the basic Altitude Qantas card...

Sounds like another 50k ripe for the taking.

And 50,000 bonus points arrived with first statement. 100,000 all up with the basic altitude card for $0 :D

Cancelled my card after the points posted last month. I asked that consideration be given to a pro-rata refund and after a few minutes on hold voila full refund granted.

Thanks pointhacks and Westpac.

Did you get the Priority Pass card before you cancelled?

Got the QF passes once I paid the taxes on some award flights :)

You can also sign up for the Priority Pass with no qualifying spend... i.e get the QF passes and PP card...

Ahhhh ha, couldn't sign up with altitude because I selected QFF when I put my application in. Can change over if I want but think Ill stick with Q untill bonus points come.

Didn't know that, but I already have PP through citibank so didn't miss out :)

Yeah, it's a bit of a hack/quirk of the process. If you choose the 'Altitude Qantas" option at enrollment you can still enter your CC details in the "Altitude Rewards" section where you register for PP. It does not appear to check that you have or haven't enrolled for "Rewards".

Airport Lounge Priority Pass - Altitude - Westpac

I registered about 3 weeks ago and received my PP card last night. I am still enrolled in the Altitude Qantas program.

YMMV

For those interested, I applied for and was approved for altitude black in early January. On 22nd January i registered for the qantas lounge passes here. https://loungepass.altitudeblack.com.au/default.aspx?appAction=exit

Booked a qf flight on 24th January. Received the lounge passes in the post 3rd February.

So if you want to trigger this by doing something like, say, booking a fully refundable flight and then cancelling it, does "fully refundable" include ALL costs - ie: credit card fees ?

(Never actually refunded a flight before.)

I wasn't even aware that there was a restriction (musn't have been paying attention) - I applied for card with the qantas altitude program and applied for PP membership immediately - obtained no issues.

Evidently it isn't a restriction however the marketing material implies its one or the other, not both.

Enjoy up to four complimentary airport lounge visits each year - two with your rewards program and two at the American Express® Lounge at Sydney International Airport

So the "two with your rewards program" suggests either 2 comped QC passes with Altitude Qantas or the PP card with two free visits with Altitude Rewards.

suppose the question is do you get billed when you use the pp card???

That's where I was getting at with my original post. With the PP card you get 2 free visits per year and then subsequent visits are billed to your Altitude card ($27 IIRC). If your Altitude card is cancelled, where do they bill to, or do they not allow entry? Some PP lounges still use the manual "sign in" process whereby the PP card itself is not scanned and therefore can't be validated. Do they even cancel your PP membership if you cancel the Altitude card?

A very strange experience with my application for this card. A reminder why I avoid westpac.

Edit: even stranger after ponying up for the full veda report package. I'm no credit analyst, but there's no obvious red flags.

I wonder if I made a major typo on my application: do you think I can request a copy?

What's wrong?

My wife was not long ago initially knocked back after they rang and asked her to apply.

On checking why it turned out she had put her monthly income as her yearly income. Changed while on the phone checking, and approved on the spot.

2nd batch of 50k bonus points showing on today's statement...2 months after the first lot.

Thanks for the update bcworld. Is there anyway of checking on the Westpac site how many points have been awarded during the month before the statement is released? Or points only show on the statement?

I am in the same boat waiting for the second batch of 50k points to be allocated.
