I got approved two days ago. How long does it take to get the notification to pick up the card. Also, seeing that people had trouble finding out if they were on the "list"; what magic words should I use when I call up the call centre to get redirected to the person who knows where the list is and can check if I'm on it?

A couple of days if I recall correctly.

There's no mention of a 5,000 applicant limit on the Westpac page: https://info.westpac.com.au/creditcards/westpacblack/qantas/

Good to hear that the 5,000 cap was removed, but it was never on the 'main' Westpac site for offers, at least at the start of the promo. I tried to show it to the person in the branch when I picked up the card, and neither of us could find the limit with this particular promo. It was only when I found and followed the link to the Points Hacks promo that the particular T&C was observable. Later, when I called for another reason, the phone agent found the promo after a bit of hunting and confirmed (at that stage) the 5,000 limit which they confirmed was unusual.

Oh, one more Westpac tale. To change the PIN you can do it in a branch - so as I was passing a few days later I went in; got the card out and said to the teller that I'd like to select my own pin. No ID was asked for, no questions asked - just put the card in the machine, select and then re-confirm my pin, and off I went.

Pointhacks must be absolutely LOVING this promotion. Says in their disclaimer they earn up to $300/successful application!

As susinctly indicated by Steady, looks like you'll get the standard 50K points, at the lower threshold.

Did you have to pay the annual fee of $395 if you used the promotion at 100K point ?

Can you still get this card and be eligible for the 100k bonus points if your already holding an AMEX? Do you get a choice of which of the two cards you want (AMEX/MasteCard) or do you get both? I currently have a Velocity Platinum Card.

Thanks!

Westpac have just told me that anyone holding any Westpac credit card in the last 12 months is ineligible no matter what the points hack t and c say. Buyer beware with this one

This is independent of any American Express direct offers so, yes, you can apply for this and receive the 100k bonus while holding the Velocity Platinum.

The cards are bundled, so you get both the MasterCard and AMEX.

Any chance you asked them whether being a supplementary cardholder counts as having held a Westpac credit card?

Might want to get them to triple check that. Last time I called up on this card they didnt even know about the offer - nevermind actually understanding the terms.

Im more interested in the terms on the actual Westpac site (not the pointshack) there is no mention of this 12 month exclusion. It does however look like the terms on the site at the moment have changed since I applied and my screenshot will be kept incase they ever try and get out of giving me my points.

I will just take this like I do any application, take screenshots of the offer, apply for card, meet the spend and wait, if there is an issue then call and start making noise, am yet to get to the last stage though as points generally post within the timeframes of the offer with little to no involvement from me.

I spoke to a supervisor who was well aware of points hack offer. As I said buyer beware

Very sneaky of WBC if in fact there is an unpublished 12month exclusion - with no mention of this in the applicable T&C's....

1. Special promotion: Get 100,000 bonus Qantas or Altitude Points. The bonus points promotion is available to customers who apply and are approved for a new Westpac Altitude Black card between 17 October 2016 and 5 January 2017, pay the $395 annual fee and spend the minimum amount of $5000 on eligible purchases within 90 days from card approval on one or more transactions. Eligible purchases do not include fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, BPAY, refunds and balance transfers debited from the card account. In order to be eligible, the account must be open and not in arrears at the time of crediting points. The bonus points depend on your choice of Rewards Program. The bonus Qantas or Altitude Points will be credited to your points balance in two increments - 50,000 and then 50,000 - within 60 days after the eligible spend criteria being met. Switches, upgrades, customers accessing employee benefits or packages are ineligible. This promotion is not available in conjunction with any other offer.

There used to be an extra bit on the end of the T&Cs.

Existing Westpac customers who currently hold an Altitude Platinum or Altitude Black credit card, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer.

Interesting. This line still appears on the $0 annual fee (in the first year) 50,000QFF bonus current customer offer of which the required spend is only $2500.

Got my first statement today. I'm not quite sure what to make of this bit. At $1/pt, it'll be a while before I hit that cap.
