You might want to phrase that as used to put through....;) as I would suspect his spending patterns may well have altered of late. I know mine have.

Good news!

After a lengthy delay I received my fax today from American Express. I was extremely patient and quite well tempered (of course if it was bad news I was ready to hit the fan).

I am happy to report that I signed up on the 19th - error with system and it didn't go through but I have been put on the 5/5k and original terms and conditions (unlimited).

They never say unlimited EVER. They always say as per the original terms and conditions heh, I like that!

I still have faith in Amex

Thats great news for you!

I looked at my transactions - I have around 90 this month on Amex (its actually higher usually, and this is on top of around 90-100 transactions on Citibank Visa so they can't have a crack at me about everyday spend if they were that way inclined). So I'm looking at either 90000 points this month if they honour my 5k/5t, 45000 if they insist on moving me to 5k/10t as I didn't receive an invite although I did sign up pre 20/9, or 10000 if the CSR I spoke to the other day was right about everyone being put on a cap. I choose not to even think about the last option...

I think I'll tempt fate and see if I can speak with someone at Amex to clarify my situation

if the CSR I spoke to the other day was right about everyone being put on a cap.

Since a number of others have had dealings with Amex since and have all been confirmed as not-capped (though one-bonused!!!) with "original " T&C confirmed a cap for everyone would seem most un;likely...and in particular for any tx up till now.

Many of us have also received letters confirming that we are in the promo.

I can't see the harm in contacting them.
Some were avoiding them hoping to stay in all 3 bonuses..but amex are clearly only putting everyone into one bonus rate (though of course some may try and get the points for all 3 via third party action).

Hi Guys,

I spoke with Christian from the Amex Executive team a couple of times. He was a pleasure to deal with.

Hmmm I probably do about 20 transactions a month normally. Between 10 and 20, but it varies.

I havn't changed my spending patterns much just used Amex instead of cash and Visa

As have most of the sensible people. ;)

Due to mrs ejb being in hospital for 7 days I have dropped 25 transactions from last month.

Damn her for being sick, maybe Amex had a hand in her illness to keep her away from the card.

Furthermore St George Private Hospital doesn't take Amex.

What, and you didn't walk out in disgust and go to a different hospital? :D

Now why didn't I think of that.

On a brighter note, the florist in the hospital took amex so mrs ejb was showered with flowers during her stay, which also help me get valuble "Good Husband Points" which are much harder than MR points to get, and even harder to hold onto.:D

Sounds good. I took have been working up a stack of GHPs lately (flowers and other things).

But so far, having a helluva time redeeming them. Any tips from AFFers most welcome ;)

There are many reasons to avoid St George...

O/T but I found the staff and the hospital to be fantastic.

Meals were great, nurses caring and efficient.

I would recommend it to anyone, the private room was like a 4 star hotel with ensuite/tv/small fridge and room service 6 times a day.

GHP's are only redeemable when SWMBO wishes, and all points may be cancelled at anytime.

I think there is a trend developing with oz_mark. Didn't he also have issues with his BMI account? ;)

Hmm, you may be onto something, but my BMI account works now :) On the downside Amex declined a payment at lunch time :(

and yes particularly so if Mrs ejb ever reads:

Damn her for being sick,

In which case I would suspect that your Good Husband Points will disappear real quick ;) with points stripped and penalties applied....and certainly no hope of getting multiple bonus awards from the one promo (marriage).

Redemptions would also be very hard to gome by in future too as most likely you will be put onto a new "enhanced " program with radically altered earn and burn.

Amex declined a payment at lunch time :(

Normally my card works flawslessly with only rare hiccups...but over the last 24 hours it has been declined at 4 different places requiring multiple attempts by the operator to process the payment, before it being accepted at last.

Have only had this happen rarely before...though I am doing more tx now;)

Hmmm might be a trend. I have had some declines too, which were definitely not credit limit issues. One transaction took 4-5 attempts across two terminals then finally worked. Also - odd - I had one merchant (that I visit regularly) suddenly have their EFTPOS terminal insist that I enter a PIN - I have never set one for AMEX (in fact as far as I know it is not even possible yet). Just would not go through without PIN, so after a few tries I gave up (and resorted to another AMEX, which worked fine....)

Maybe too many concurrent AMEX transactions going on thanks to all those (theoretically) enrolled promo users rushing to get their count up for the 31st of the month.

Hmm, sounds like POCing may be a better option
