This is not the case. The cards on an account all have different numbers. If one is compromised, they only cancel and reissue that one.

Saying that, with the fee free offer it makes sense for a couple to have one account each (with supplementary cards on each other's accounts, appropriately marked).

Apologies, I stand corrected.

My experience with CBA many years ago is that they cancelled my compromised card only, leaving my wife's supp card alone.

I don't know if Citibank is any different or indeed if CBA still does the same thing.

Do you know if the CBA supplementary card had the same number? My understanding was that supp cards on the same account always had the same number and would therefore automatically be stopped/cancelled, hence my comments.

Supps generally have different numbers, allowing you to track spending.
Some cards are issued with the same number but this is because they are metal, or other de unusable in some situations.

I know of no bank that issues supps with the same number, but I only have cards from about 4/5 banks.

Also, when I have had cards compromised, they only cancel the main/compromised card.

Well there you go. I have ANZ, AMEX, CITI, GE and all are issued with new numbers. Anyone got news on NAB and Westpac and the smaller banks?

I have have always had Westpac cards and the supplementaries have had the same numbers as the main cards. My current master/amex combo earth black account has master card number and an amex number but my wife's cards are each respectivly the same as mine.

I have had my card only stolen and on another occaision a possible compromise detcted by the bank. In both cases of all cards were canceled and quickly replaced with new numbers (wife and I identical numbers again) inconvienant but not big deal as we also keep a no fee master card for emergencies.
But worse all the direct debits had to be changed before their due dates made them bounce. I real pain.

Good to know the ability for seperate numbers on cards exists, if only all banks used them. I would also really love to have a secure and seperate number for my direct debits.

Can the sup card be Rover or does it actually have to be a person they can identify?

Got the card 20 December - still waiting for the PIN so I can set up internet banking....have been using the card....paywave is great but really would like internet banking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I earn $40k to $60k.
I applied and got the Platinum card.... then called up and asked to be switched to QFF (knowing it wasn't possible)..... then asked to move up to Signature card. YOu need to be able to get $15k limit, but I was originally offered between $13k and $14k for the Platinum card..... so, the operator has put in a manual application for me for the Signature and I'll find out in the next week or so :)

If i get the Signature card, it'll be my primary card... if I have to stay with the platinum, I'll just use it for international travel insurance, and maybe the odd Citibank Dining Program :)

PIN(PAW) as latest statement say no signature in future.
What info do they require for Sup card holder?

Your understanding is correct in every way.

Two separate Citibank ACs: one for each person (husband + wife).

Each AC has the other spouse as the supplementary card holder.

Only one AC is used while the other is reserved for emergencies e.g. cards being compromised.

With the fee-free offers, one would be remiss not to create a reserve account.

If interested, you still have time left.

The offer ends on 31 Dec IIRC.

Website shows offer has been extended to 31 January 2014.
