Article: Why Most Airlines Don’t Serve Popcorn on Planes

Ahh yeah, I went onwards to LAS, you're correct the A380 was to LAX. Edited in the post now because you're all comedians.

Article: Why Most Airlines Don’t Serve Popcorn on Planes

Here's a couple of photos I took flying QF Y on the SYD-LAX A380 early March 2023. It clearly hasn't been deep cleaned since it got the red roo painted on the tail. All that time parked in the desert they could have sent someone with a Dyson and a crevice tool. Popcorn making a mess doesn't...

    Upgrades Pre/Post changes

I had to hit the "upgrade" button maybe 30-40 times last night to be given the upgrade dialogue three times (our travel team kept changing my booking so I had to keep re-submitting the request). The times it didn't work it said something like "there is something wrong with this booking, please...

Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

Complete fail this morning QF415 in Sydney gate 12. The bronze in front of me was boasting to his mates about how Qantas never stops him. Sure enough they didn't. It was mentioned in the announcement but the line was out into the main part of the terminal and no large sign at the gate so it was...

Anyone have trouble to log-in QFF today?

Ok now I can't check in for my flight in the morning. Qantas telling me to spend a few days at home perhaps?

Seems to be back now. 11am Sydney time.

    WP treatment in Y

On QF730 on Thursday, sitting in row 4 (first Y row on a 737), the FA's made a point of telling everyone in rows 4 and 5 to feel free to use the J toilet despite the curtain being shut. This wasn't prompted. Nice gesture. She was holding a manifest at the time so might have known that all of row...

Hey Qantas, why is it that ....?

This is my point. Some airlines reward staff who go out of their way to help customers, if there is marginal to no cost impact to the airline. Many customer service industries will have a delegated authority for e.g. a limit of $25 per customer or a meal voucher without seeking higher authority...

Hey Qantas, why is it that ....?

That's the overflow for people who can't get a seat. I sit at the side benches regularly in the Adelaide Qantas Club, but usually I travel alone so I am ok with that (although they're not very comfortable). A few times a year I end up at a computer because otherwise I would be eating my muesli...

Hey Qantas, why is it that ....?

Why is it that you're "really cracking down on perks for platinums". I don't get to buy my tickets, they're always the cheapest that Amex travel can arrange for us, company policy. I just enter from/to and departure time, then pick from the list of airlines. We have tens of thousands of...

QF trials new "no tray" meal service in Economy Class

Three flights this week. One ADL-SYD J with Eggs Benedict on French Toast - didn't like it, odd metallic taste and runny eggs on a plane? Had to eat very carefully to avoid getting any on me with the reclined old 737 seats. One SYD-MEL Y with the box poached chicken pasta salad. Liked it a lot...

    New Qantas Uniform

Thumbs down from me. Makes them look like a gymnastics team on tour.

[Promo Ended]Deep Discount Y currently upgradeable.

6 weeks later for the return flight, and also no upgrade. Red Roo, how do I get the black mark against my name removed? 16 years without an international upgrade is not a co-incidence.

[Promo Ended]Deep Discount Y currently upgradeable.

Not much fun at all. As the customer, and a clearly loyal one at that, you shouldn't be made to feel indebted to the supplier for the privilege of letting you spend your currency with them, nor should you be left hanging to the end hoping they selected you in their cruel lottery. So why collect...

[Promo Ended]Deep Discount Y currently upgradeable.

.... and we're in Economy. SYD-DFW with the family. I shouldn't be surprised - I've been flying Qantas International since 1997, WP with well over half a million points to spend on upgrades for this trip. 2-6 international flights per year with QFi and nearly weekly trips with QFd. Never had an...

SYD Business Lounge - ''this is not an arrivals lounge'

Arrivals worked for me this morning in the Melbourne domestic business lounge, on arrival from an Adelaide flight. It meant I had a decent breakfast rather than the half cup of muesli that counts for "full service" on the ADL-MEL flights. I had an hour to wait for a colleague arriving from SYD...

Who has achieved WP only flying in -Y?

I've achieved and re-qualified WP on -Y due to company policy. Mostly domestic but with a few international trips a year. Less QFi now since the demise of ADL-SIN. I was away from home at least some part of 46 weeks last year. No DSC's in a few years unfortunately (not since I hit WP anyway)...

The demise of Qantas international flights

This - I visit SJC a few times a year and was far happier driving up to SFO and flying direct than via LAX and the American Eagle shed at LAX. Also - how much nicer were the SFO staff over LAX? Qantas dropping the direct ADL-SIN flight was a blessing in disguise - now I know how much better the...

Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

Fail again QF765 in Sydney 9 July due to only one FA. One FA playing traffic cop - stopping the standard line every couple of pax and calling for premium pax. It worked ok but had a very amateur feel and you could feel everyone getting frustrated at the experience.

Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

Premium boarding fail. One FA on the general aisle, one at the computer. Premium aisle blocked by headset bin. QF771 SYD-ADL 21 June 2013.
