And most economy AY booking classes earn 100% EQM ... as I am expecting to use for an upcoming trip. Doubt it will be booked in R, more likely V or M.

Very true, but there are a few which book into R as this one below MAN-SYD-MAN

Here is one for $1,313.00US

My WP card pack arrived last week for my first ever stint as WP.

Almost exclusively CBR - MEL - CBR though was lucky to jag a CBR-ADL-PER-MEL-CBR in a DSC offer which got me across the line.

All Y red e deals down, semi flex (gov't fare structure) tickets back (V or B fares)

Took just over 100 discount economy flights last 12months for 1110SC. I know it's 1400 to qualify but like someone else said Qantas seems to forget the real Frequent Flyer at times

A few years ago, I got Gold purely by flying on QANTAS Link. 10 SC at a time.. Let's just say I got to know most of the flight crew on a first name basis.. And I still like flying Qlink..

I know how you feel, I fly to Melb almost every week .. for last 4 years ... and could never come close to the magical 1400 SC. Was not even offered double SC in Feb-March when my year was ending end April.

I know I might not be generating all the $$s like the J international flyers but still, 40+ flights per year should qualify for a recognised flyer.

Maybe they should change the system which will account higher SC once you get over 20, 30, 40 flights within the 12 months so WP is more achievable.

If you're doing say 48 weeks a year flying SYD>MEL return in discount Y, that will earn you about 960SC's per year, if you did all that in a full Y earning fare, you'd be on 1920SC's. If you did 22 of those 48 in a class that earns you full Y SC's rather than discount Y, you'd get to 1400SC's. I take it there is a valid reason why you get discount Y fares?

yes , they are work trips and unfortunately I can only get discount Y to fly to Melb and flexi saver going back which nets me 30 points each trip. That would mean 47 trips and unfortunately I dont do that many (usualy between 30-40 each year).

at least half my dom flights as disc Y fares. we no book edeals going up and flexi saver going home

Sadly, yes!

You need to earn an average of 70SC's per week and with 3-4 flights and a mix of red & flexi it's easy.

What city are you based in?

I don't know what would be worse, living in PER and doing that every week, or the same from CBR or MEL...

Based in MEL.
Flying 1-2 hours a few times a week is no big deal. I try to stay overnight so it won't get too exhausting.

I've achieved and re-qualified WP on -Y due to company policy. Mostly domestic but with a few international trips a year. Less QFi now since the demise of ADL-SIN. I was away from home at least some part of 46 weeks last year.

No DSC's in a few years unfortunately (not since I hit WP anyway).

I'll re-qualify again this membership year probably around the 5-6 month mark if this current rate continues. A well-timed DSC offer might see me hit P1.

Well all I can say is that I feel my WP qual with hardly any flying (when compared to the miles some of you travel) is some what embarrassing . I don't enjoy flying so I would not cope with with the grind you have to deal with.
You all deserve the WP status when it one's your way ( and even when it doesn't)

On a slightly different topic - but kinda of on this one ...

I had to fly Y from BOS to LHR last week on BA and was not looking forward to the return. Imagine my surprise when they bumped me to business. The staff even made a point of telling me it was because of my Emerald OW status. Wow! Only time I've been upgraded to business, and it wasn't even on my most frequented airline (QA). So, I'm a converted BA fan. :)

Any airline that upgrades me for free - I'll be a fan. I know, I'm an upgrade tart ....:D
