Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

VA1530 SYD-HBA (Saturday morning) - breakfast was Zucchini Frittata with spinach and tomato, along with a danish. Quite nice, if a little on the blander side. The other option available was the ham & cheese croissant.

Your 2017 flying year in review

Where are you going in 2018?

About half as many flights in 2018 compared to 2017 (22 vs 56) booked so far but plenty of time to be tempted. Jan/Feb - USA with some time in HCMC and Bangkok on the way back (plus a couple domestic trips to ADL and TMW) Mar/Apr - HK then UK then EU (only planned the first week in London...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Exactly right - they still came around with the bread basket for the rest of the cabin (I was nearly offered some as well until the FA noted the package on my table).

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Haha, that threw me as well. I was thinking, this can't be for the bread, right? Maybe there was meant to be a small side salad that never arrived.

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

August 15's QF435 SYD-MEL (VH-EBD), scheduled for 13:00 departure, didn't end up leaving until 14:20 (arrival in MEL was 15:51 - headwinds prevented making up any time). Taxied out almost to the runway but stopped as it was announced that a fault had occurred and they were working to clear it...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Here was the vegetarian option on today's QF435 SYD-MEL: A quite serviceable spinach, potato and cauliflower curry with rice and beans. Smell was very appealing too. Along with it were pre-packaged bread slices (1 Soy & Linseed, 1 White) and the rather nice chocolate/caramel tart to finish.

Qatar J from SGN Golden ticket $745 usd

I jumped as soon as I saw the deal come up and managed to book SGN-DOH-JFK; ORD-DOH-SGN for US$673, which I was pretty damned happy with! Now, I just need to decide how I'm going to position to SGN...

VA Partner Updates (July 10th 2017)

I had a minor panic reading the email this morning - I'm flying SFO-AKL-SYD in J departing November 1st, was initially thinking "what _brilliant_ timing I have!" So I was really relieved to read that existing bookings are still supposed to earn: A great shame this is changing as there are...

    Velocity Gold reciprocal perks?

If you do much travel to and within NZ it's of great benefit IMO - I sometimes think Air NZ do a better job of looking after/recognizing Velocity Golds than VA themselves! Domestically: Gratis seat selection anywhere on plane (except $10 exit row seats), priority check-in, lounge access...

    Another explore gold (Flybuys) offer

This was my experience as well - the app always showed the right amount of SCs even though the site didn't and once my review was complete all the SCs appeared on the site again. It was comforting to see them again, like having 400 "invisible" SCs that had been floating around somewhere suddenly...

    FlyBuys - Explore Gold offer

Enjoying this preview of Gold even more than I thought I would thanks to some fortuitous timing - I had several flights booked with VA and NZ already in the 3 month period, so adding on lounge access and priority check-in, boarding, and baggage has been a nice bonus. Especially beating the zoo...

    FlyBuys - Explore Gold offer

My Explore Gold kicked in last night (no email, just noticed when opening the VA app). Odd thing is that I was Silver with 384SC (none due to expire before May) but, after Explore Gold, my account now shows 129SC. Couldn't see any mentions of it happening in this thread; has anyone else...

Your 2016 Flying Year in Review

Easily the most flights I've done in a year - travel bug finally caught up with me and I headed O/S for the first time in years and also revisited a few local spots. 2016 stats: 27 segments 32059 miles 2 days 21:45 Unique Airports 12 Carriers 6 Countries 5 Vehicles 10...

The Joys of Travelling With Luggage & No Status

I find it a bit frustrating that VA at SYD/MEL still have this slow, manual process while at OOL they have an easy self-service bag drop (shared with TT). With the manual bag drop, all it takes is for the 3 or 4 desk operators to be hit by "problem" passengers (big groups, lots of kids, no ID...

Have you used a "Bus Gate" in Australia?

Re: Have you been transferred to or from an international flight in Oz by bus? Experienced this at Sydney just last month (end of October) arriving on SQ251 from SIN (333), parked quite some distance from the terminal. There weren't any announcements so I was quite surprised to find myself...

VFF number flying Air NZ not shown on ticket

NZ flight credited to Velocity - FF number not shown on ticket Apologies if this is a silly question, I've found queries relating to flying Air New Zealand while crediting to Velocity but they weren't quite what I was looking for. I've booked SYD-AKL-SYD on NZ, putting in my VFF number during...

    Hello to all

Hi there, I've been lurking for a while, thought I'd better finally get around to posting something of an introduction. Unfortunately my job keeps me in one corner of NSW, so no work-related flying for me at all. However, I've started doing a lot more leisure flying this year after finally...
