Yup,

From 1 November 2017 Points can only be earned for travel on Air New Zealand operated Domestic flights within New Zealand and Air New Zealand operated Trans-Tasman flights.

They even have a dedicated page for ineligible destinations :)

Ouch, the NZ thing is really a big devaluation of the whole VFF program. They've lost the Pacific and they're only real Oz-South America option. I hope they're hunting for more partners

So looking at the page and as is often with Velocity, it makes me question my intelligence. They are clearly promoting all flights to the Americas will not be eligible, yet on the dedicated page to the ineligible destinations, it only lists the following Transpacific destinations:

Trans Pacific refers to the following Air New Zealand destinations:

 • Honolulu, United States of America (HNL)
 • Los Angeles, United States of America (LAX)
 • Houston, United States of America (IAH)
 • Buenos Aires, Argentina (EZE)
 • London Heathrow (LHR) via Los Angeles (LAX)

Notable exceptions that spring to mind being YVR and SFO.

So VA being VA i'm not sure if that means if the work experience kid didn't click on the route map properly, or if they just have some overly complicated new earning and partner structure of which they have failed to inform us of correctly.

Thoughts?

I reckon it's the work experience crew and we'll see a few things getting reworded. Just look at the Delta bonus points amount shown on the update release compared to the earn table...

Hmm, I see - 25/50/50 v. 50/75/100 !

From the URL it seems they have used an image originally for EY for DL.

I have to admit, even QF is starting to look "simpler and fairer" vs VA these days

I had a minor panic reading the email this morning - I'm flying SFO-AKL-SYD in J departing November 1st, was initially thinking "what _brilliant_ timing I have!" So I was really relieved to read that existing bookings are still supposed to earn:
... from 1 November 2017 Velocity members will not earn or redeem Velocity Points and Status Credits, or receive other benefits when travelling on all other Air New Zealand operated flights. Any bookings made prior to 10 July 2017 for travel after 1 November 2017 will still be eligible for Velocity Points and Status Credit earn.
A great shame this is changing as there are frequently very attractive US fares in Y+ and J on NZ, guess I should just be glad I got in before it all kicked in...

I agree, though if you fly J with them you will still get lounge access as its included in the fare and I would *assume* if you fly from Oz to US you would still gets points and status credits on the Oz <> NZ sectors. It may still be appealing depending what you need SC wise and from Perth you're still going to rack up a few SC's if my assumption is right.
(Yes, I am trying to make a bad situation, seem not so bad.)

Hi!

Yes you are correct, as a Velocity member travelling on a NZ operated flight from Australia to New Zealand and onwards to a US destination, you will still earn Points and Status Credits on the Trans-Tasman segment of your journey.

Another Work Experience kid bites the dust! Updates have since been made!

Yep, the work experience kid strikes again.

I see that the list has now been updated to include YVR and SFO.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

That's pretty pathetic.

We certainly do not want any of the company reps reading any of the (valid) comments noted on AFF, acting on them within 24 hours, acknowledging their errors and confirming that these errors have been fixed as requested.

Truely pathetic performance VA.

Not surprised this has happened given the VA/NZ fallout, but disappointed that VA is once again left with no partners crossing the Pacific to South America at all.

I was planning to fly via NZ to Buenos Aires the next time I was headed that way, but now what good options do we have? I've connected through LAX on DL before, but transiting the US is deeply unappealing right now. May as well say hi to good ol' LAN (well, LATAM now) I guess? ;)

Luckily we booked to LAX with ANZ a few months ago. As far as I can tell there is no clarity on the availability of lounges at LAX after 1st November 2017. We fly back on the 5th November. They talk about 'other services' assuming they mean amongst other things Lounge access. (Priority boarding etc...) I am glad I am getting the points but I hope we will also get lounge access as well. The 'International Lounge Access' page has not been updated.

As other have stated we quite like ANZ and these changes have disappointed us. As for the China Connection that is great news considering that most of our flying is to China.

Surprising posts!

I believe it's good the errors have been rectified.

It was pretty obvious that there was an omission given the near divorce between VA and NZ - this provides rapid clarity.

I think you missed the sarcasm in the post by PlebStatus .....
