    Why can't MEL have a LAX-style walkway between T1/T3 and T2 airside?

Two reasons I can think of: * Different security screening requirements (ie. liquids allowed for domestic but not international) * International passengers have to pass through the border to leave the country if coming from a domestic terminal In short - there's nothing to be gained given...

Do the contents of the Business class Toiletry bags need to be in transparent bags for security?

I've never bothered repacking any liquids from amenity kits, and never had an issue. I also don't bother pulling things like small sanitiser bottles or covid test reagent tubes out, and never been pulled up on it. I think it's a case of better to ask forgiveness than permission. Let's face it...

    Hong Kong Octopus Discussion

If we're talking the normal MTR, no, in most cases the fare will be the same. Some concessions may not apply like early-bird fares and the fare-saver machines you see around a few places (that deduct $2 from your next ride). The MTR buses and light rail (in New Territories areas tourists don't...

    Hong Kong Octopus Discussion

You can use a Visa card (Mastercard coming later this year) for the MTR, and I think also buses and the trams. Bizarrely, you can't use them on the airport express (but can buy tickets for that with a credit card). Tip: If travelling with at least 1 other person, buy a "group" ticket from the...

    Qantas to resume Sapporo flights

It's been a while since Qantas have flown BNE-MNL which looks to be a route on that map. Haven't heard any mention of it coming back? Could be a good A321 route though.

    JP/SG/HK 2024 - Ups and downs!

Keep in mind that Uber isn't legal in HK. It's commonly used, but against the law, and police do go after drivers. Would normally recommend catching the Airport Express to the closest station (Kowloon in this case) and catching a taxi from there. But it does require a bit of cash.

HKG lounge crawl 9 June 2024 (the annual Asian lounge crawl)

Bronze for me. Based in HKG, but the 10th is a public holiday here (Dragon Boat Festival), so had booked a trip a while back. But you never know, plans can change so will keep track.

Survey re Premium/Standard Qantas Club Proposal

The big difference is the benefits only apply when flying QF (or AA if no change there). It can't be used when flying any oneworld airline.

CGK Airport - LAG Check on Boarding to Oz

Agreed, haven't experienced it in HKG for years, including last week. It's clearly a complete waste of time and money (where it does happen), but no one's incentivised to remove it on the off chance something bad happens afterwards. The check was also never very thorough anyway, it would have...

Aust int travel incoming to Aust

I assume the paper with your photo printed on it is to allow the people at customs to 1) verify it's the person it's meant to be 2) see if they've been tagged for inspection. It does mean you don't have to hand over your passport at the same time, as they should be able to use the printed photo...

QF642 PER to SYD "...not eligible to request and upgrade..."

Is it possible your flight hasn't been ticketed yet? Have you been charged for it?

Lounge Access on Arrival as QF Elite?

I'm pretty sure there is passport control back to the Schengen area from the non-Schengen departures area at HEL, from (recentish) memory. After all, some flights will dump you straight into the departures level (depending on whether it needs screening or not). However, I'd suggest it's not a...

QFF Bonus Status Credits/Points gift on back of Aug 2023 profit

Indeed, but just noting that some people claim they hadn't met the conditions but still received the gift. It doesn't seem to be universal though.

QFF Bonus Status Credits/Points gift on back of Aug 2023 profit

No email or sign of the offer in my (updated) app here. Haven't flown on a QF flight in the relevant period. Did have a couple of (SC earning) 3K flights though. Plenty of OW partner flights in that period (earned the SC for requalifying WP easily, but only 3/4 flights - would have been given it...

Help pleaseAnyone else having trouble getting through to Qantas today

Have you tried contacting the number they provide for Italy? Might have the same issue, but worth a shot. From: https://www.qantas.com/it/en/support/contact-us.html

I don't know the answer to most Qantas "security" questions!

I had that message pop up earlier this year. The fix was ultimately to remove all my contact details and add them back in. It was preventing me registering for the DSC offer at the time.

New TRS rules? Goods no longer included in cap?

I know someone who was recently told TRS wasn't available for Australians (and hence the Tourist in TRS). Required getting the supervisor over to have the person processing the claim told that was wrong (pretty unbelievable, and says a lot about ABF that they could have been sitting there doing...

Malaysia Digital Arrival Card and Autogates

Interesting that you had success with this @serfty. I tried this in April - I did the MDAC before flying, and asked at the usual manual immigration counter if they could register me. But the officer wasn't interested in dealing with it (can't remember if he said he couldn't, or just fobbed me...

Qantas to Introduce Group Boarding and Bag Tracking

What a great move to have non-priority group numbers look like seat numbers! 🤦‍♂️

Why the difference in choosing a seat?

This is what I see as a WP at the moment: vs ExpertFlyer So it's not just the straight status level affecting the seat choice. Ok, who knows, the 5 available seats as a WP was only because the account wasn't logged in. Curious what the reason is for @NamarrgonFlyer seeing two different (but...
