Really nice wine, unders at $40 today.

Ideally needs about 5 years of cellaring, or 24 hour decant if drinking sooner (it was great on night 2). More subtle and mellow than you would expect from a Barossa shiraz. Beautiful aromas and taste.

The 2017 was the pick of the last 6 vintages for my money. Elegant and refined. Whilst still a lovely wine, It has gone down hill in quality and up hill in price., to the point of being overpriced now compared to similar quality wines IMHO

Thank you for sharing. I've struggled with Schild, personally, but agree it is good value at those costings. Probably the best value one for me is John Duval Entity for around $40-$45 using promo codes. Torbreck Struie also when sub $40, but don't rate the 2024.

I agreed and possibly The Neldner Road Shiraz at $20 was the best buy of the year 2025 for me.

Comment from the friend that it should be in par with the Torbreck Struie which is around $50.

I haven't tried Neldner Rd, but I see others here like it. I've had several of Powell's Vinomofo special The Blend, & didn't enjoy them. Have opened 1 Pramie & it was v good. When choosing what to buy, it's so tempting to check RRP first, then the degree of discount, because bagging 'bargains' feels. great. I know I do this a lot!! But it is the tail wagging the dog ie cough about. eg Dave Powell would happily put RRP of $250 on a wine for which Sorby Adams might ask $75. The psychology is that we won't get as much of a dopamine hit, or whatever, paying $20 for a Reverend Canon RRP $75 as we will from paying $20 for something reduced from RRP of say $100 or $$150. Yet the Reverend uses top quality grapes, spent 3 years in good French oak, 30% new, it is made like a top shelf wine : it's a bargain at $75, & a steal at $20 (although actually the 2021 St Boniface has been more popular here amongst multiple gatherings. If the 2022 is as good, then it's very good).

Sorry about wine psychology rant, but the marketing scenario, the wine "mind game" to use a Roy & HG-ism, is interesting. The other essentials, if you're going to ask RRP of $100 , $300, $ more, include : ridiculously heavy bottle, a cork - of course (mon Dieu! pas un screw top!! Merde!), & a great blob of wax to seal the deal. More recently, funny shaped bottles are Very Meaningful (& annoying to cellar). All this smacks of High End. And, interesting but unsurprising really, will often alter the drinker's perception & enjoyment of the taste. (Never mind that Huon Hooke & other know-it-alls concluded years ago that screw top is [generally] a superior closure, & consider these excessive kilograms of glass to be an insult).

Agree and it can be a real mental trap, especially with sites like this one that encourage you to go further down the 'bargain addiction' rabbit hole. I am constantly reminding myself that there are a number of wineries that put out $20-$30 RRP wines (I'm looking at you Hoddles Creek & S.C Pannell) that aren't regularly discounted which I enjoy much more than $60-$100RRP wines that can be picked up at half price. I've been taking a break from chasing the bargains lately and often enjoying some of the wines I've been purchasing at full whack even more.

I agree with most of your thoughts here. Had the Reverend Cannon a few times and opened up quite nicely.
