Hopefully one of these dates will be suitable - I am flying to ZRH on Mon Aug 24 so really would prefer to be intact on day prior to departure hence why I have not included Saturday August 22 - was feeling kinda secondhand all day after MEL CAN I.
 
This is a thoroughly unhelpful post, but when this showed up on the "New Posts" search results, the first thing that came to mind was that a trip to Guangzhou was an unusual group outing for AFFers, let alone a nonstop MEL/CAN flight, which would have to be on CZ! :confused: :!:

(I have since worked out what this is about, and it's probably about time to turn off the computer...)

Either day is fine for me at this very early stage, but the preference is probably the Wednesday.
 
Poll results show clear preference for Friday August 21. Interesting that we had 14 attendees at MELCAN I yet only 9 votes cast for pref for next date - input from resident pollsters on AFF - what does this tell us? Does it clearly indicate that holding such an event twice yearly is just too frequent? If YES - no biggie at all - we can just amend to an annual event?

Anyways - back OT - now to location. The way I see it we have 2 simple choices - repeat festivities at Topolinos again on Aug 21 or switch to new venue.

Toppys on Fri night totally diff scenario to Wed night - at MELlCAN I we had the luxury of virtually the entirety of that big back room to ourselves - we impinged on nobody else and had virtual free rein - that won't be the case on a Fri night where I have seen ever seat in that back section occupied.

So ............... if you good intending or possible attendees could stick your thinking caps on and maybe suggest an alternative venue if you think a new location may be advantageous. Please consider the variables involved and even approach venue owners etc to gauge their level of interest in hosting MELlCAN II prior to posting suggestions.

I didn't vote because August is relatively free for me ATM so I'll let others who prefer specific dates to choose.
Regarding the venue, again I'm easy. City is obviously more convenient but I'll go anywhere as long as there will be good food, good people and enough alcohol :)
 
This is something I would have loved to attend but August is too soon for me and dates unsuitable.
 
Is there a link to MELCAN I so I can see what I'm in for? :D

Topolino's is just a hop away from me, so gets my vote. Although I'd have to confirm my attendance closer to the time - generally I don't know what will happen tomorrow, so August is still a bit misty.
 
Thanks CE. Will read the thread with a glass of bubbly :) I'm glad it's a CAN evening - it should go well with my choice of chilli mussels *drool*
