Hi AFFers - I've been using the EatClub app quite a lot recently after discovering that several of my regular local venues had joined the platform. The savings have been surprisingly good! For anyone unfamiliar with EatClub, it was founded in Australia as a way to help restaurants, cafes and bars attract customers during quieter trading periods by offering limited, time-based discounts; Kind of like dynamic pricing for hospitality.
Using it is very straightforward. You search an area (or follow your favourite venue/s) in the app, redeem an offer before dining, and then ultimately tap/pay using the EatClub digital card that you add to Apple Pay or Google Wallet the very first time you redeem an offer. The merchant receives payment for the full bill, but your underlying credit card is only charged the discounted amount. In my experience, staff generally have zero idea you're using it because everything happens behind the scenes. I've seen discounts ranging from 10% to 50% off, all including adult beverages, and there seems to be good coverage across Australia's major cities. It's also available in the UK, although I haven't had the opportunity to try it there yet.
Here's a look at what I'm seeing right now in the Sydney and Melbourne CBDs. It's quite late as I write this, so there are a lot fewer live offers than you'd normally find. The venues showing 6% are participating businesses that don't currently have a specific 'live' discount, but you still get dining credits by paying with the digital card that can be used on later purchases.

If you'd like to give it a try, my referral link to open from your phone is:
I receive a $10 dining credit if you sign up and make use of the app. As far as I'm aware, there's no direct benefit for the new user via the referral, but once you're a member you'll have your own referral link that you can share with family & friends, or to add back into this thread! I've only found a couple of references to EatClub on AFF, so I'm also interested to hear whether others have been using it and what sort of savings you've achieved.
Cheers,
Matt.
