Hi Guys,

Hoping someone can give me some great advice, Im looking at splurging for long service leave on J class for the family tour of Europe. BNE is preferrend departure point but happy to look at SYD or some have mentioned cheaper flying from AUK or doing cheap economy to Asia then J class through - not fussed with which European city we come in and out of, prefer airline with flat beds if poss. all tips welcome, price is the major factor here, have ff with QF and VA(gold) but priority price and quality.

China Southern have some pretty cheap J fares if you're not looking for luxury and just want a flat bed.

You might find ITA Matrix Airfare search a useful tool for finding good prices on flights. Matrix - ITA Software

You can specify a number of origins and destinations in the fields on the form, and can even specify a range of dates for travel, and it can show a range of options on various airlines via various locations. You'll probably find CZ or MU to provide good prices, though not sure if that meets your quality criteria.

Have a look at garuda Indonesia, they have a special on at the moment. They have good A300 outo Jakarta, and new B777 to LGW. I paid $5067 out of MEL.

Look at Qatar they have some great mixed class fares to Europe picked up return in early July for $5,300, worth a look.

Hi, I'm flying JQ in business Max from MEL to BKK on one ticket and then AY in J to HEL and on to LHR in J with AY and same way return. It is a bit complicated and includes a stop over in BKK as JQ arrives in the evening, AY departs about 9am on the way up, but that could be a good excuse to spend a couple of days in BKK if you felt like it or alternatively just a night at the airport hotel (which I will do). If you plan the date of departure carefully as JQ business cost can vary a lot depending on dates you can get the JQ in business Max for about $2060 return (business Max because I want the tier points and ff points, or it would be a lot cheaper if not in Max) and the AY fare about $3600, all up about $5600, less if terminate the flight at HEL.

Sri Lankan airlines will do return business class from BKK to Paris for a total of AUD7217 (prices vary slightly) for a Biz Saver for 2 adults and 2 children. Connection is via CMB with full flats ex CMB. And will be a member of OneWorld by then.

They also fly to London and Rome. London will be more expensive because of ADP.

Also consider the Malaysian Miles + cash option using the free 1,000 miles per Enrich account. Not horizontal flat beds but great availability at less than AUD$4k per person to UK as an example (although agree to avoid departure from UK if possible as that will save almost $400 per person)
