I'll probably just have carry on anyway...do you know if Malaysia will issue me a boarding pass 12hrs before my flight at the transfer desk in Singapore...or maybe Qantas will do it in Sydney!
Arriving Singapore on QF81 May 7th then connecting 6am May 8th on MH602 to KL. Can I get my baggage checked all the way thru to KL. I would like to stay at the transit Hotel in Terminal 2. Is this possible?
If you can't, the transfer desk can organise so you don't need to do customs etc on a lot of cases.
How does this work? Does the transfer desk send someone to find your luggage and re-check it in for you?
the new tags are printed at the transfer desk and you are given the receipt.I suspect you should be able to as you'll be transferring between oneworld carriers.

They send someone down with a new tag and it then heads down the outward baggage conveyor.

Someone is sent to the luggage hall armed with the new tags. The locate your bags, change the tags over and send them on their way to be loaded to your connecting flight.

Interesting. Would this work with an inbound on QF connecting (separate ticket) to TK on a flight about eight hours later?
It is a manual process. They write out the flights on a new tag in texta. The baggage receipt number(s) is/are the same as the originally issued baggage receipt(s). They generally get on the phone and ask for the bags to be intercepted and someone must walk over and place new tags on baggage. How does this work? You must get the special treatment.the new tags are printed at the transfer desk and you are given the receipt.

This process has now failed me 3-4 times. I have lost count. Not good enough really.
