I am going to stir the pot a little, seeking views on this WP's "entitlement" / "unpublished benefits" thing.

And, it will be very basic (human functions, too).

Now, if you are a WP sitting in Y (because your ticket said so), how often you avail yourself of the better lavs of the premium cabins just because "I'm a WP, don't you know ?"

Say, you are in row 32 and you just walk casually forward to the PE lavs; or (heaven forbid) sitting in 48C followed by a walk to the front of the plane ???

Slightly off topic, many has reported seeing J pax walking downstairs towards the F loo - apparently from Emerald City (could have been amaroo's sighting recently, maybe. I could not locate that post).

On the scale of "unpublished" benefits, where does this belong, if at all ?

What's the correct (WP) etiquette here ?

Free to walk where you feel like it, whenever you need to do it or please, keep to own cabin: which camp do you belong on this leaking issue ?

I only use the toilet in the ticketed cabin...

When I am in business class I dont care who is using the business class lavatories as I am too busy enjoying the flight.

Speaking as a WP who pays for F out of their own pocket - loo encroaching would really annoy me. I would rather hand over the bubbly...... Seriously one of the big benefits of the F cabin is the fact that you pretty much don't have to queue and my ageing body appreciates that - I think it might have been Princess F who saw J passengers walking downstairs?

When I am in business class I dont care who is using the business class lavatories as I am too busy enjoying the flight.

One word came to mind - you're way too munificent IMO.

Regardless of one's 'status', you should really reside in the allocated cabin instead of behaving like an 'entitled' VIP.

Happened to see this recently: a youngish chap (presumably WP, greet & meet by the CSM 1-2 min before my turn) just stood up and strode confidently towards the PE lavs [from UD Y] without even a cursory turn towards the Y loo at the back.

That sort of DYKWIA turned me off greatly.

FAs cannot be everywhere so self regulation / restraint should be our responsibility.

Anyway, that's how I see it.

I only use the bathroom in the cabin my BP says I'm in... unless redirected due to a cart being in the way, or CSM/FA suggesting otherwise.

QF11 last month. I and another F passenger were chatting while waiting for one of the loos, out pops this fellow holding J PJ's.....he then walked up the stairs:evil:

It was indeed, I had to wait ages to get changed on QF10. One pax came out and proceeded upstairs and the pax waiting in front of me was also in J. I quietly seethed into myself, thought about reporting it but didn't bother.
I don't go downstairs at all when I'm travelling in J on the A380.
Perhaps it's time for the rope at the top of the stairs to make a reappearance?

Flown Y a few times now as WP (dom only) and didn't as much get a second glance. I'm not exactly high value though so that's understandable.

Maybe they could get some more use out of their RFID kit and build proximity keys into the F/J/PE boarding passes... might prove painful though when one is overflowing on Dom/Charles/Sparkling, and can't find where they left it!

why is it that people feel the need to suddenly visit the WC in a higher cabin when service carts are in the aisle in their cabin?

most people commute to work - either drive or take the train or bus, or on the weekend they drive or walk to the markets or something. There isn't a toilet for use while you're getting to your destination. People hang on for 30 minutes or whatever.

Why all of a sudden on a plane is it different? Why the need to go exactly when the carts are out? Not before, and not after?

I did say 'unless redirected'... I generally walk towards the cart, and if the FA manning said cart turns me around, then around I shall turn. Happy to wait it out though, cart-side, perhaps even grabbing another bathroom-causing beverage while I'm at it!

On a standard 737 trip on the eastern seaboard it can be tricky to get the timing right for the loo. If I have been in the lounge for a couple of hours waiting for my inflexible return flight home, it is my usual practice to try to powder my nose in the 5-minute gap between the end of meal service and the start of tray collection. This can mean I get trapped at the back of the plane if the trolley turn-around is too quick, but that's no big deal.

What has happened on occasion is that I need the bathroom a bit earlier or later, and this has meant I have headed down the front. Probably happens about 1 flight in 20 and I always ask if it is OK with the FA.

So whilst I fully agree that there is a DYKWIA element to some of this behaviour, there is also the possibility that sometimes it is a case of any port in a storm.

Not that I have done it - had to hold it in - but sometimes the seatbelt light stays on after take-off, up until the time the carts come out , then the light goes off. This happened last week. I felt that being uncomfortable was better than being told curtly, in front of other passengers, that I can't use the toilet in the other cabin - I shouldn't have.

Nah. I've got nothing. I still don't see how someone using the premium lavatories is an issue that should concern me.

If I saw someone trying to move into a cabin they didn't belong in then that's a different story.
