On 30 December had to fly Sydney-Broken Hill with REX with their BIX REX fare, and then back on the last flight that same day. It cost me $1,146.00 in total return, and could have flown to the US for that. It's evident they have got us by the short and curlies.

Same in NZ. Air Nz is reasonable on the main trunk because of Jetstar, anywhere else is deadly.

Agree with you there. Is TMW gone as a destination?

TMW is occasionally an option depending on the sale and timing but still 1.25hrs drive and prices generally up there with ARM, currently a couple of $130 such as the 6.30am depart (!) but mostly $210 each way. If I have to drive to another city then I'd rather go to Coffs (significantly cheaper) or all the way to Sydney which is what I'm likely to do that weekend.

Sorry to hear. I guess I am lucky in that I have a choice of ultra-cheap airfares to OOL if BNE is not suitable.
