Yesterday I was on a domestic J flight subject to an aircraft change and no catering was loaded meaning breakfast was this:

Normally I wouldn't have minded but I'd just gotten off an International flight where the J "cafe breakfast" was half a toasted cheese and tomato sandwich which I turned down as it was still served two hours before landing.

So it is worth following up with Qantas or just treat it as one of those things. I didn't mention anything on board as it was a good crew, it wasn't their fault and they had enough to deal with.

As a J Pax, I would most likely write them about it.

A certain level of service is expected in the cabin, which is why we pay/redeem a significant amount more than other pax.

Whilst it could be generally accepted that getting to the destination is more important than arriving at the destination full... I would suggest that my expectation would be another flight in J credited for future use.

It's like getting to hertz only to be told that your President Circle upgraded vehicle is near on empty and you should stop in and fill it full of fuel on the way to your 8:00am meeting...

Don't let it side, put in feedback so the issue can be looked at and systems changed if possible to try and prevent a reoccurrence, I suspect something has not worked in the system regardless of plane change, that should be looked at.

I would submit feedback on the QF website anyway. Don't expect anything in return but if you do get a voucher or something, it's a bonus.

Hertz did that to you too did they?
Happened to me in NYC-just enough gas to get to the nearest gas station.
They said return it empty.I calculated well as arriving at Hertz JFK it had from memory just 3 miles left before it stopped.

And yes I would let QF know about both the Café breakfast and the missing domestic breakfast. They need to know that not all pax are happy with the slide in standards.

I think we need a twitter hashtag that can be used to express unhappiness with Qantas catering in general (and specifically the cafe breakfast) - how about #hungryonqantas ? :)

You won't get anything beyond "We do apologise and will mention the incident to our catering team".

If you do I'll be surprised.

My one and only complaint regarding a poor economy meal BEN-MEL on a Saturday evening resulted in a phone call a week after complaining followed $100 MPV.

I'll submit the feedback form and see what (if anything) happens.

The bizarre thing was originally there was no catering trolleys at the front of the plane and I heard the captain tell the CSM that he wouldn't fly without them due to weight distribution issues. So we sat on the tarmac for half an hour or so until the trolleys could be found. As they were being loaded I heard the CSM say that they could leave the meals in them - but the catering guys removed them anyway.

I would hope they get more! It is paid for and that component of the fare should be refunded without question.

I would have thought part of the business airfare includes a meal.

If you did not receive the meal then I would certainly provide feedback and I would ask for compensation.

Customer service is not that difficult.

from the Qantas website:

On all other domestic business flights, you'll still enjoy our innovative menu made from fresh seasonal ingredients and designed by Neil Perry. Hot and cold menus are offered along with award winning wines from the Qantas Wine Cellar and delicious items such as cheese from Bottega Rotolo and handmade cakes from brands such as Manna from Heaven, Madhouse Bakehouse and Simmone Logue.
And of course, complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are served on all flights, including a selection of premium wines chosen by industry experts for you to enjoy.

(all other flights referring to those not between Perth and east coast)

Wow, talk about a double dose of bad luck, an international cafe breakfast (i.e. virtually nothing) and then a really nothing breakfast on your domestic leg!

Complain long loud and hard and please let us know what the outcome is.

Personally I'm having trouble coming to grips with this. Isn't it a first world problem.

While you are complaining to QF, please let them know how long it was that you had to go without almost any food. 60 minutes? 90 minutes? Must have been lucky to survive.

If it was only that long I might agree but having done an international leg lets assume it was at least six hours after the dinner, then an hour between flights and another hour on the domestic flight. Adds up to eight hours at least for me, could even be longer depending on how long the international flight was and if the OP even consumed dinner.

I used to forgo the dinner on overnight flights for extra sleep. Now with the cafe style breakfast I can't because it could be 8-10 hours before food is available.

No problem. Say nothing and the message is that we can do anything we want as they are not going to complain.

Personally I will spend $200 to get $50 back for bad service.

the 'first world problem' argument is an ad hominem response and irrelevant.

if something is advertised and you pay for it - why should you ignore it if it's not delivered?
