Last Friday I turned up at BKK to check into QF8418. Of course that's EK metal.

Originally booked on QF24 (through QF website), but was reassigned to QF8418. The flight reassigment was done back in FEBRUARY by QF. Apparently this should trigger a re-issue of ticket by QF. I had been able to assign seat, and was visible in my bookings up to day of departure, so had no awareness of a problem.

Unfortunately QF had failed to issue the ticket to EK, and by the time it was issued (after me getting stressed waiting on hold for QF WP line to sort it), the flight had closed.

Anyone else had this problem??

(Qf rebooked me to QF24 the following day, but I had to spend day in BKK...MrsStoopid at home was unhappy about that. I have been assured that expenses will be covered, but don't know yet if anything additional will be offered).

Hi,

Tried to send you a PM but your mailbox is full - clear it out and I will resend.

I had similar situation and got compensation but will PM you full details.

Dale.

I'd say your issue is a result of this revalidation/reissue problem identified by QF.

That's it. So they already knew it was a problem Hopefully now QF (as agents who sold me this ticket) have a system in place to automate it when they change someone form QF to EK metal!

A completely avoidable and unnecessary stuff-up by QF....

They knew it was an issue and waited until now to fix it?

I would be extremely disappointed if that happened to me.

That link isn't what happened in this case as the ticket would have always needed to be reissued because of the flight number change.

QF just forgot to do it.
