Folks,

Maybe I have been living under a rock too long but just visited the Qantas website to play some what ifs with our frequent flyer points.
I can see that the screen layouts have changed somewhat but as a comparison to previous years it seems to have got harder.

Whilst the first screen on"where could I go" throws up the usual points required + taxes.
Plugging in your dates & departure/arrival details, the screen now throws up fares first and the ability to toggle to points required.

My observations based on playing what ifs for a while is as follows;
No matter how much I play with pushing out the time frames - it seems to be near nigh impossible to find out easily when the best points dates are.
Everything I pull up seems to suggest I will need double the points for just one off the two legs.

Have I missed something?
Was there a recent announcement from Qantas that I missed?

Please help release me from my ignorance.

regards

Rono

Actually, your rock has probably been the safest place to be, as the sky has fallen in. Well, regarding booking Any Seat Awards anyway. Read this if you want to get frustrated and angry.

Its can be confusing if not been on the QFF site for a while and wishing to book various flights, awards, any seat awards have been removed, have to call up (procedure in sticky above), J class now on own page, why the boxes are so big beats many.

The site is now a complete joke !! :(

Do you mean "enhanced" + or "enhanced" retrograde?

Do you mean "enhanced" + or "enhanced" retrograde?

"Enhanced" is used with the tongue firmly planted in the cheek. Whenever QFF announces an 'enhancement', it usually results in a loss of value for your points.

It sounds like you're searching for Classic Award seats.

If this is the case, then you'll need to be logged in under your Frequent Flyer account, and select "Show Classic Awards" on the front page where you enter your destinations in the search fields.

If not, then Classic Award seats will still be displayed (if available) even if you don't select this tick box. This is because, for the first time, you can make an Australian Domestic booking using a combination of Award and commercial fare types subject to availability.

Hope this helps. :)

Or, he could be searching for Any Seat Awards in U fare bucket, which can now no longer be done on line. Which, you may have noticed, has annoyed pretty much everyone who has ever booked one of these.

I don't think Red Roo could have helped but notice :p, but he/she/they don't make the rules.

I've solved the puzzle. There are 9,000,000 QFF but only xx'000 max who know the system. If I make it hard for that small percentage I have not disenfranchised 8,xx0,000 QFF member so that must be a good thing.
