Getting back on topic, maybe Qantas are going to announce that ASAs can be booked online again.

Maybe this: Qantas increases domestic and international fuel surcharges | News.com.au

[h=1]Qantas increases domestic and international fuel surcharges[/h]"QANTAS is increasing fuel surcharges on domestic and international flights to combat rising costs, with prices to rise by $25 each way on flights to the US and Europe.Qantas' domestic airfares will also rise between two and three per cent under the changes, which will come into place mid-August.

On some routes, international base fares will rise instead of fuel surcharges.
The fuel surcharge on flights to the US will rise to $365 one way for economy and premium economy and to $390 one way for business class.
On flights to the UK and Europe the surcharge will increase to $255 for economy class, $325 for premium economy and $445 for first and business class - a $65 increase.
Economy prices will also rise by $25 to $255 for the Middle East, $10 to $155 for Asia, $10 to $185 for Honolulu and $25 to $285 to South America.

Qantas previously charged a flat fuel fee regardless of class of seat, but has brought in the new structure to bring it into line with new partner, Middle Eastern airline Emirates.
Fares on Qantas' regional airline QantasLink will also rise.
To avoid the rises, fares must be ticketed on or before August 13 for international flights and on or before August 14 for domestic flights.

Likely something to do with
B787
A350

I expect to have the 787's actually confirmed for QF and not just JQ

Something is happening, change in shareholding notices are obvious on the ASX!

Hmmm as they announce new / increased QFi routes..?

Hmmmmm my guesses would be another Jetstar baby overseas, another major partnership (e.g with China), structural change of QFi v QFd or an acquisition/sale.

Hmmm as they announce new / increased QFi routes..?

Nothing of substance though really right? A seasonal service, a minor upgauge - nothing that when taken in context with the axeings amounts to anything...

If the timing is after the election - IMO it can only be IR related.

Giving Jetconnect more routes? Outside of the box. Don't they operate at much lower costs? Start a base for Jetconnect in Sydney and have them operate services to Asia etc?

Anybody noticed the fine print on the bottom of the Qantas homepage??

Flights QF3/4 on Saturdays between Sydney and Honolulu from 21 December 2013 to 18 January 2014 are subject to Government and regulatory approval.
Flights QF27/28 on Fridays between Sydney and Santiago from 20 December 2013 to 10 January 2014 are subject to Government and regulatory approval.
Flights QF25/26 between Sydney and Tokyo on Friday 4 January 2014 are subject to Government and regulatory approval.

Increased capacity on these routes for these dates?? Possible 787 doing QF3/4 (although I note in the last few days an A333 did that return trip) and maybe A388's doing Santiago and Tokyo ??

QF25 used to be a US flight?

Was there not speculation/rumour that Qantas would use JQ787 for NRT & HNL routes?

Correct... QF25 used to be MEL/AKL/LAX... why would they resurrect the flight # when QF21 already does SYD/NRT...

EDIT: doing a dummy booking for that date doesn't show anything about QF25...

They already use Jitconnect crew on international sectors on the 380 - they do have lower costs but not stunningly so
